The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier Exhibition heads to Melbourne
Australian fashionista’s prepare to dust off their kilts and corsets as The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk Exhibition heads to Melbourne, with the man himself set to open the event at the National Gallery of Victoria on October 17.

Whether you are a fan of his work or not, French Haute Couture and Pret-a-Porter designer John Paul Gaultier abandons conventional fashion in favour of his quirky, unexpected designs. This is the man that dressed Madonna in her iconic cone bra, put men in skirts and once hosted a comical TV show Eurotrash, pulling in around 2-3 million viewers each week.
In honour of Gaultier’s forthcoming arrival to Melbourne, I have been scouring the net in search of vintage Gaultier and bring you an eclectic mix of his fashion past:

The exhibition, organised by the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts in collaboration with Maison Jean Paul Gaultier, Paris will feature more than 140 superbly crafted garments in addition to photographs, sketches, stage costumes, excerpts from runway shows, film, television, concerts and dance performances. From punk to couture, androgyny to Eurotrash, Gaultier’s touring exhibition will surprise visitors with his elaborate yet rebellious designs from early 1970s through to recent years.
Melbourne locals and visitors will be able to visit the exhibit from 17 October 2014 to 8 February 2015, and I, for one, am excited.
