Navy To Take Over Gulf Spill From Coast Guard?

The Gulf oil spill is a monumental disaster, with sea, plant, animal, and human life sure to be affected for years to come.As the leak continues to gush out of control, it seems it may be beyond the scope of mankind’s technology.
On Sunday, Senator Shelby stated that ” We get 30% of our oil from the gulf…. we need hands on regulation… but we need the energy… the regulators need to be on top of the industry”. Shelby has concluded that the ban on drilling in the Gulf is not good for the economy, which may prove to be true.
Another interesting topic that was tossed around on this particular CBS broadcast was the possibility of the NAVY taking over. Senator Barbara Boxer along with Sen. Nelson have called for the NAVY to take over the oil spill using “command and control” tactics. “Accelerate it…. get the NAVY in there now” said Boxer, on CBS’s Face the Nation.
The Army is already openly involved and now it looks as if the Navy will soon follow. These events may be part of the “Battle Plan” that Obama mentioned in his Address to the Nation.
