La. Sinkhole Before, Now Videos Show Shocking Growth, 30 Football Fields Large Expected

A video comparison of Louisiana’s sinking Napoleonville Salt Dome sinkhole, between Bayou Corne and Grand Bayou, at its onset in early August 2012 and the latest official flyover video posted Feb. 20, 2013 by Assumption Parish officials shows the shocking growth.

The collapsing area is now reportedly 8.6 acres, spewing crude oil, methane and a combo of other dangerous chemicals into the swamps, bayous and Cajunland communities.

It continues to swallow a part of the Louisiana parish environment , with its regular burps and quakes.

Officials have said that they expect it to continue expanding and have suggested it could reach the size of 30 football fields, or about 40 acres.
