How to overcome the traditional-modern parenting conflict?

It’s amazing to know how many changes occur in the field of child psychology and parenting every year. It’s almost as if there is a certain code when it comes to parenting. Then, the traditional-modern parenting conflict. I do not understand the need for this conflict in the first place.

Stupid and controllable? Kids?

Kids these days cannot be controlled irrationally. A decade ago, parents used to hit children as a last resort. Now, it borderlines with parental abuse. Kids are not stupid and easy to fool these days. Most of them are tech savvy as well.

What’s traditional here?

Honestly, I do not know what we call as a traditional family these days. My parents come from a very orthodox family. Yet, I do not know how they put up with me. I guess that a lot of things have changed in the last twenty years. This is an era of destroying meaningless traditions.

Parenting is an art these days!

I have to give a million dollars (if I had it!) to my uncle for the artistic way he raise their kids. That kid is one heck of a trouble maker. As if that was not enough, he is like a radio that always yap and yap till you are insane.

You have to be an artist these days; always imagining about the creative ways to get the best out of your kids. There is a lot of competition to consider as well.

It’s all about understanding…

It’s a crazy world we live in. There is no place for those old ways of parenting. It’s an era where kids can think for themselves, express their own creativity. Understanding them, their mood (and even psychology) is the key to parenting these days.
