Killer Science: Is Trauma the Root of Brainwave Disturbance?   by Lee Gerdes

NPR ran a story about a California neuroscientist who learned that he had descended from a long line of killers. That discovery led him to analyze his own PET brain scan and DNA – and those of his close relatives – to determine if he or any one of them could have the marks of their ancestor-killers.What he discovered would frighten most: That while his relatives’ results appeared normal, only he, himself, had the scan and the genotype of the psychopaths before him.

Yes, Dr. Fallon had the brain patterns and the DNA that would suggest trouble. Yet, he is fairly sure that he won’t play out the violent behavior of those before him. Why? Because he believes that there in one missing ingredient: He was not the victim of abuse or violence in childhood.That’s what we in Brainwave Optimizationâ,,¢ call “trauma.” In my journey, I have found trauma – either a trauma of abandonment or a trauma of infringement – to be the root of brainwave disturbances. Our prison studies show that the inmate brains we looked at all indicate a trauma print. All were parasympathetic dominant by 250 percent, and all showed that the major trauma was incurred during pregnancy or the first year of life. None of the inmates slept well, and all but one had severe insomnia, rage issues, history of drug use, lack of reading ability, lack of attention, and lacked an ease of digestion.

All of the problems with the inmates were solved when their brains balanced with Brainwave Optimizationâ,,¢. Evidence of the brain balance was the mitigation of the trauma print.Should Dr. Fallon undergo a severe trauma, it could be enough to set him off, but most likely the real potential danger lies not just in a single trauma but in a number of traumas which “add up” and likely start at an early age – possibly before birth.

Some of the likelihood to be inhuman (psychopathic or sociopathic) depends on vulnerability, some on environment, and some on experience.For example, if someone is born with really tall genetic make-up and grow to be very tall, they have a vulnerability to hit their head on low hanging obstacles. If that tall person lives in an environment where there are a large number of low hanging obstacles, the likelihood of hitting their head goes up significantly. And then, if they are pushed or trip while walking near a low hanging obstacle they are even more likely to hit their head. Still, it doesn’t mean that they will hit their head but it does mean that there is a high likelihood they will hit their head. However, if the person were unable to duck because they hurt their back, it would be yet another reason why the likelihood of hitting their head would increase.
