The top 10 breakfast cereals most likely to contain Monsanto’s GMO corn

Tuesday, September 25, 2012
by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger

(NaturalNews) By now, nearly everyone interested in healthy living is aware of the recent research linking Monsanto’s GMO corn to cancer tumors and an increase risk of premature death in both men and women. News of the research is spreading like wildfire across the ‘net, and support for Proposition 37 — which seeks to label GMOs in foods — is growing by the day.

But the media has not yet reported on the everyday foods being sold in grocery stores right now and made with Monsanto’s genetically modified corn (GM corn). Which foods are most likely to contain Monsanto GM corn? To answer this question, I visited a local grocery store in Austin, Texas and purchased 10 breakfast cereals made with high levels of non-organic corn.

According to the Center for Food Safety, up to 85% of the corn grown in the United States is genetically modified. This means corn-based cereals that use non-organic corn have a very high likelihood of containing GM corn.

The following list presents the top 10 popular breakfast cereals most likely to contain Monsanto’s genetically modified corn. For the record, none of these cereals claim to be GMO-free, nor made with organic corn. The exact GMO content of these cereals remains a mystery precisely because manufacturers of these cereals refuse to label them with their GMO content. This lack of full disclosure by the food industry underscores the urgent need for a labeling law so that consumers can make an informed decision.

Legal note: In no way are we claiming these cereals will cause cancer tumors to grow in your body or that they pose an immediate risk to your health. Those studies have not yet been done on humans. GM corn is an experimental crop with unknown long-term effects of humans. Breakfast cereals made with GM corn may turn out to pose a significant long-term risk to human health, but that has not yet been determined. This article is presented in the public interest, reflecting reasonable caution over a common food ingredient which French scientists have now convincingly linked to cancer and premature death in studies conducted on rats.

Which cereals contain no GMOs? Nature’s Path

There is only one brand of breakfast cereal I know of that’s 100% non-GMO and 100% organic across their entire product line. That company is Nature’s Path:

If you buy breakfast cereal, and you don’t want to eat Monsanto’s GM corn, always choose cereals from Nature’s Path. This is my No. 1 most highly trusted cereal company.

Many “natural” brands that appear to be healthful and natural are actually not organic or GMO-free. For example, “Barbara’s Bakery” cereals are not organic. Although they are positioned in store shelves alongside other organic cereals, they are actually made with conventional crops grown with pesticides which may include Monsanto’s Roundup.

You may also notice that most of the cereals most likely to contain GM corn are children’s cereals. It is the children in America who are being fed the most GMOs. This represents a highly unethical food experiment being conducted on an entire generation, and the long-term effects of human consumption of GMOs are simply not known.

What we do know is that rats fed this very same Monsanto GM corn developed shockingly large cancer tumors.

The photo released by the French research team, showing large cancer tumors growing at a strongly heightened risk in rats fed a “lifetime” of Monsanto’s GM corn, is shown below. According to that study, 70% of females died premature and showed significant damage to their liver, kidneys and other organs.

Pretty crazy, huh?

This article is based on the notion that this particular GMO study is legitimate. I know most of you buffoons don’t understand real science, the scientific method, or statistical mathemateics but I will state ad nauseum that the study was flawed. It’s garbage.

Did the author of this article leave out some facts? For example, most of the control group (a measly 10 rats) ALSO got cancer?? How convenient for everyone to ignore this fact.

Nice – an anonymous poster tossing out insults to everyone at BIN.

What is it? 95% of Americans want GMOs labeled across the board on all products sold. So, why aren’t we seeing it then?

Everyone would like more detailed scientific studies done of GMOs and the affects on animals and humans – too bad that these costly studies are never funded by the FDA. That fact however is perfectly understandable given that Monsanto and FDA have a revolving door policy with each other and all regulatory government agencies involved with our food want to ensure that Monsanto’s profits are protected at all costs.

Who cares about the public’s health when there is money to be made?

I don’t disagree with anything but your first comment. You’re jumping to conclusions here. The facts are the facts and my statement stands. This one single study is not the place to make your stand however. You’re going to need more firm footing.

Label it and people who want to eat GMO can buy and eat it. As it is right now those wanting to eat GMO have to take a chance on not getting it.

You just insult people because you must really have no life, and I’m sorry that sucks for you!

And to assume everyone lacks skill and technique or info shows how full you are of nothing.

Go get help and then , try again.

Typical silly paid troll, doing the customary & worn out obvious, desperate routine of insulting people, name calling & insinuating that it’s above an average person’s intellect to ‘understand the scientific method’ in a very condescending tone. As is usual with these lame attempts at ‘damage control’ nothing substantial is offered to counter the evidence & facts. Just empty spiteful & snide rhetoric. If the science is good enough for the French & Russian governments to take it seriously & act upon it, why shouldn’t the general public? You are attempting to manipulate people into doubting this legitimate & important study that confirms what many scientists & other professionals have been saying for a long time. The cat is out of the bag.

      • Anonymous

Precisely who is insulting who here? Your lame attempts at derailing the facts have failed. I’m not attempting to manipulate anybody. GM corn can be found in almost every food in some form and many hundreds of non-food products you would never have thought of. This article is slanderous garbage aimed at a few products for unknown reasons.

OF COURSE the study shows that MORE studies are needed and I SURE AS HELL want to know what products contain GMOs. It’s more likely that if there are paid shills (of which I am not one you paranoid nut), that they are promoting this research because they know it’s screwy. Ever heard of the Pied Piper?

I bought the chex because they said it was gluten free. Going right in the trash. Tony the Disfigured Mutated Tiger is not welcome here. I had a garden full of mutated flowers a year ago… GMO and hybrids are real threats to this planet – and all life on this planet going right up the food chain. Nature needs time to adjust to its own changes let alone all the chemicals they dump on everything for pesticides. Add both things and you’ve got problems – its real. Eat this crap at your own peril.

I have been feeding a grain mix out to a handful of sheep here.
They eat certain of the grains – but ALWAYS leave a particular grain, looks like triticale.
