No Paid Sick Days, No Health Care + Flu Outbreak = Disaster

The old 1910 Frankenstein movie was based on a crazed scientist’s great ambition to create a human being, and finally one night his dream was realized. He was convinced that he had found a way to create a most perfect human being that the world has ever seen. To Frankenstein’s horror, instead of creating a marvel of physical beauty and grace, there unfolded before his eyes and before the audience an awful, ghastly, abhorrent monster …

But for now … using the best Positive judgment possible … it seems we who yet remain … have to sneeze, sniffle, cough and sweat through it …. and I pray for a nations Positive strength to endure the worst until relief comes …

The flu outbreak sweeping the nation is putting the spotlight on how the lack of paid sick days and lack of national healthcare put public health further at risk.

“you should stay home and follow your health care provider’s recommendations.”

And the Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention (CDC)

“recommends that you stay home for at least 24 hours after your fever is gone except to get medical care or for other necessities.”

Yet roughly 41.7 million workers in the US — about one in three — have no paid sick days, and getting medical care is out of reach for the millions of Americans who have no healthcare.
