Botox, Also A Solution For Acne, Study Reveals

The word Botox is very much familiar with society right now. When you hear it, you would immediately think that it’s tantamount to the word cosmetic which is very true. It’s used as an injectable medication to remove forehead wrinkles or lines around the eyes and mouth. You might not know this but Botox can also be used for those who are suffering from excessive sweating.

But now, a new study reveals that those who have acne may also benefit from the powers of Botox injections. Doctors who use Botox for treatment of skin problems  aren’t that many but a certain plastic surgeon in Chicago pushes this and even published a study in the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology.

While Botox is used to freeze skin muscles that cause wrinkles, the Chicago based doctor uses the injections stop sebum or oil production and large pores and reduce the number of acne appearances.  The doctor says he only does this for patients who are aging 20 and above and it’s not good for those who are still in their teenage years.

“Their hormonal changes are likely permanent,” says this doctor. “For them, Botox is now the safest, most effective treatment we have.”

“This is quite new,” says a plastic surgeon Dr. Daniel H. Lin from http://shinecosmeticsurgery.com/. “But I think further studies should be made to make sure that it’s safe for such procedure. Botox is a good treatment but we still don’t know its limits.”

The jury is still yet to decide with regards to the use of Botox to acne.  But as far as treating it, there are other options patients can still use like lasers. Everything still boils down to how a person cares for his skin.
