Most of us have heard stories of near death experiences, some say that they traveled through a never ending tunnel attempting to reach a bright light at the end of it and others say they found themselves looking down onto their own, recently demised body. What ever your beliefs are, hold onto them, but scientists now think that at the moment of a persons demise the brain is at its highest state of consciousness that it has ever been throughout that persons life and may account for the many stories people have related after having a near death experience. A report in the “Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences” is casting doubt on the near death experiences of hundreds of people each year, who have come close to death, or died but have been revived. All these people report having vivid experiences, experiences that have up until now been very hard to explain, but after studying a large group of rats, scientists now report that all the rats at the point of their demise had high levels of brainwaves leading the scientists to believe that the same thing happens in humans giving them an extremely heightened state of consciousness at the point of death..
