Bombshell: Not One W. Va. Official Under Oath Would Say Water Is Safe

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Over a month after Freedom Industries, a group of other corporations, and government officials allegedly  poisoned as many as 300,000 men, women and children, not one of the seven officials under oath testifying Monday at a federal congressional hearing in Charleston would say the area’s water is safe, despite their former “safe water” declarations, telling people to use it, and cutting clean water distribution for weeks.

Freedom, other corporations involved in the alleged crime, and the military WMD team aids, were MIA at the hearing where they, too, would have been under oath.

“Nobody sitting here is willing to say the water is safe,” said Chairman Bill Shuster, R-Pa., who led the hearing Monday at the Kanawha County Courthouse in Charleston.

Shuster said he guessed the refusal now to say whether or not the water is safe was an effort to avoid potential lawsuits.

That might be a bit late, however, for some of the lawmakers and “clean coal” king Governor Earl Ray Tomblin’s health-related appointees, like Dr. Lititia Tierney, Tomblin’s commissioner of the state Bureau for Public Health.

“That [the water is safe] is a difficult thing to say because everyone has a different definition of safe,” Tierney now says, after publicly declaring the water was safe and blaming West Virginia victims for their poisoning symptoms.

Tierney has also accused people poisoned and suffering chemical exposure symptoms of poor hygiene, mental health issues, as well as there being a  lot of “flu.”

Like saying a woman is only “a little pregnant” or “kind of” pregnant, Federal lawmakers leading the hearing learned a private company’s October inspection of Freedom’s tank farm along the Elk River found its tanks were kind of compliant: The tanks weren’t “necessarily in full compliance” with federal standards.

The chemical spill, that the state admitted on Jan. 9 but that locals say had begun weeks earlier, finally overwhelmed the private local water corporation, the West Virginia American Water Co. treatment plant.

That resulted in a do-not-use order for almost 20 percent of West Virginia’s population.

There was no do-not-inhale order or subsequent evacuations. That was despite the National Guard and even military Weapons of Mass Destruction teams deployed to the area to aid in the crisis. It was also despite the National Terror Alert Response Center’s protocol for areas under chemical exposure.

Water company president Jeff McIntyre and Rafael Moure-Eraso, Chemical Safety Board chairman, also testified. They appeared before four members of a nearly 60-member U.S. House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.

The hearing Chairman Bill Shuster was joined by Reps. Nick Rahall, D-W.Va., Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va. heavily funded by the Koch brothers and other fossil fuel barons, and Daniel Webster, R-Fla. a Kanawha County native.

Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., another fossil fuel industry puppet, was invited to Monday’s hearing and allowed to ask questions at Monday’s hearing.

About those other hundreds of chemicals aside from MCHM, PHh, and Formaldehyde

The hearing exposed another bombshell: ”There is an odor emanating from Freedom Industries, and it’s not licorice,” stated Congressman Nick Rahall.

“Just because you can smell something doesn’t mean it’s not safe,” the private water corporation’s president Jeff McIntyre said, contradicting toxicologists’ warnings when a chemical leak has occurred – and even common sense.

Five schools in the affected area closed last week after chemical poisons were so strong, they were not only smelled. Children and teachers were also passing out, vomiting and experiencing other common symptoms of poisoning that sent at least two to the hospital.

Toxicologists even warn, “Just because you can’t smell it does not mean you aren’t being poisoned.” (See: Vampire of Macondo.)

MCHM, PHh and formaldehyde are among known chemicals in the water supply, thanks to independent scientists.

Those scientists have been testing chemicals other than the MCHM, the only one government officials had been saying it was testing and basing its “safe water” declarations. That is, aside from the U.S. military’s Weapons of Mass Destruction teams’ tests, still under cover.

The military WMD teams went to Ground Zero to “assist the West Virginia National Guard’s 35th CST with the collection, data entry and transport of water samples for evaluation.”

[Read: WMD Military Boots-On-Ground Teams Researching West Virginia Water, They Say]

Missing in action were Freedom President Gary Southern and members of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, who were invited.

Others missing were representatives from the military WMD teams and other companies involved in West Virginia’s ongoing humanitarian crisis: Nalco, that holds the patent to one of the chemicals in the water, MCHM, and Eastman. (The list of chemicals on Eastman’s ‘Crude MCHM’ MSDS sheet list of chemicals is close to impurities the company lists on their CHDM specification sheets.)

Seven residents were at the hearing and allowed to address the committee.

Sue Bird, who said she’s lived in the area over 70 years, said she and fellow residents have asked for more attention to chemical safety for years. Like many residents have said, she told McIntyre she’d never trust the water again.

“Another resident asked when the water would stop smelling,” the Daily Mail reports.

No one answered.

Brilliant. The whole world should be watching. We should use these terrible tragedies to overthrow the fossil fuel criminals and work our way up to the top of those responsible for the vast corruption in this country. If our own country doesn’t prosecute these criminals the crimes should be taken to international courts as well as individual countries that have the courage to issue warrants for the arrest of perps like war criminal Bush. Prominently covered people’s courts also have some impact, although corporate media tend to ignore them.

      • Paveway IV

The only reason the whole world should be watching is to understand how corrupt and useless the government is at protecting taxpaying peons. This hearing was a PR charade to make it look like Washington was going to do something about the problem. It was so useless and a waste of time that I don’t blame Freedom’s Gary Southern for not even showing up.

Chemical terrorist Gary Southern’s boss, J. Clifford Forrest, OWNS W.Va. Rep. Shelley Capito. He doesn’t pay her all that bribe money… er, political contributions… to make trouble for his filthy Rosebud Mining business. Hey pays her to vote down anything that looks like clean water legislation, and she seems pretty obedient – check out her voting record. Good investment, Cliffy! She’s also on the payroll… er, received contributions… from all the other big coal and chemical players. When they say “Jump”, Shelley squeals “How high, boss?”

In fact, Cliffy has all his bases covered. The shell company that he crated to lend money to his bankrupt Freedom (thanks, taxpayer rubes!) was to move the MCHM to tanks up in Pennsylvania. And Pennsylvania Representative Keith J. Rothfus gets bribes… er, campaign contributions… from Cliffy.

I would express my condolences to the new and unfortunate Middle Allegheny – Redrock watershed hosts for the Freedom (or whatever Cliffy is calling it now) MCHM, but you can just about walk across Dutch Run Creek now. It’s more of a creeping colloidal mass thanks to the coal industry there, although I understand it reverts to a more liquid form in the Allegheny river before it hits Pittsburgh’s intake pipes.

Not that Pennsylvania should complain. Rosebud has been using the perfectly safe MCHM plastic waste to wash coal in Armstrong county up there for the last decade. There are already tons of MCHM in the aquifers up there from wherever Rosebud is hiding the slurry. Not one problem every reported. Why, I bet the guys at the wash plant are the picture of health. I bet they bring big tubs of the froth home and let their kids play in it.

In fact, it would be a great PR stunt if Cliffy stripped to his shorts and slathered the foam all over his body to show how safe it was. If MCHM was grandfathered in as ‘not not-safe’ in a thirty-five year old hazardous waste law, then it’s perfectly safe. Anyone who wants to say otherwise better lawyer up (or at least buy more politicians than Cliffy).

Again, thank you for your insightful comment, Paveway. Agreed, if government failed to respond to the greatest environmental and humanitarian catastrophe in the nation’s history, the BP/Transocean/Cameron/military 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil operation, one cannot expect anything more from lawmakers regarding any other fossil fuel disaster.

West Virginia is rich with natural wealth like coal, natural gas and timber. The false US government wants the American population out so the new owners, that bought the state (thanks to the EPA) can move right in. Any people left behind will have a new master…CHINA.

      This is ALL a setup.

      • Paul Brown

If I understand you correctly, you think China is buying the state, and somehow there is a conspiracy to deprive us of our “wealth”. I can’t find any evidence of that. However, there is good documentation that existing fossil fuel companies in this country – oil, gas, coal, tar sands – are more interested in exporting our “wealth” because they can make more money that way than peddling their poisons in the US. Their claims of clean energy and making the US energy independent are bald-faced lies. And by failing to properly regulate the industry (which would make them uncompetitive with renewable energy freedom) the government including EPA are adding to our misery.

As for being rich – our natural resources have never made the people of West Virginia rich. This is a third world state, with the same resource curse as third world countries. We rank near the bottom on almost all socioeconomic indicators, as do other fossil fuel states. Our people are derided as being fools for putting up with rape. The only ones getting rich are the criminals who are destroying us, as they have for many decades in the coal fields and the chemical valley. Deregulation continues the slaughter of innocents. We would have been far better off leaving the fossil fuels in the ground.

We could get less poor if not rich, by buying local, ramping up renewable energy industries, and running the crooked politicians out of town on a rail. We can start by electing third-party candidates (from the communities of victims) who are committed to reform. The Dems and GOP are really pretty much the same party, and we know what the result of a one-party system is: dictatorship.

As for this being a setup, I agree. We were set up all right – by the same good old boys who have been getting rich over our dead and dying bodies for generations. Time to stop them and provide better jobs for the

        • Paul Brown

Oops, wild keystroke submitted before i could finish the sentence. We need to provide better jobs for the people dependent on the fossil fuel industry (not really that large a fraction of the WV population any more), starting with cleanup of the environment so people can have clean water and healthy air, and jobs building and installing green energy – wind, solar, geothermal – and energy efficiency, starting with government facilities to provide a good market, and making it affordable for individuals and groups through financing, leasing, and other creative means being used elsewhere.

And we all need to work together to help the people stranded in poisoned areas who can’t move because they can’t sell their homes. WV is a state where people used to care for each other, before they became knee-jerk consumers. We can be again.

        • Tralop

Dang Paul maybe you should consider running for a political position in WV.

        • Paul Brown

Tralop: Why thank you. I did run for House of Delegates, as an independent, in 2010. I got more votes per dollar than my opponents, but I had too few dollars because my platform included pushing for sustainability, which meant defunding fossil fuels and funding green energy.

I would have run again, but there were so few volunteers helping me I knew it would be impossible to win. I walked over 200 miles knockiing on doors and half my campaign money was my own. Most people didn’t want to “waste” their vote on an independent, but I was damned if would run as a Dem or a Rep.

Now I’m leaving for a more enlightened state, but maybe WV will wake up.

How about you? Want to run?

    • The Secret Behind Communism

Just like the recent Gulf of Mexico spill, the government’s job is public relations damage control, not actual harm abatement and prevention.

It sounds to me like Dr. Lititia Tierney needs to be replaced. There is no mistaken the meaning of safe drinking water. It simply means that the people of West Virginia want to know if they and their families can drink their water and not get sick, glow in the dark, or die. No other explanation is necessary.

      • Paveway IV

I think she changed her name to Tierney-Mengele. She is overseeing the unethical, no-consent human trials on 300,000 West Virginians of 4-MCHM. Eastman bribed their way out of ever having to test their slop in Tennessee. Now, Tierney-Mengele can simply monitor local kids liver and kidney tumors, nerve damage and birth defects for the next decade courtesy of the West Virginia taxpayers. Well, of course – she doesn’t think any of that will happen. But experimenting on live humans is fun. Bonus is that many early pregnancies were probably not discovered until after WVAW made sure the contaminated water was well into their system. Almost as if it was on purpose… but anyway.

Tierney-Mengele is going to win a damn Nobel prize some day for studying that huge of a sample of deformed children. West Virginia should be proud!

By the way, someone tell Tierney-Mengele that 4-MCHM does not smell like licorice anywhere on earth, so the residents are smelling some other chemical in Eastman’s plastic-making waste. She is going to be terribly embarrassed crowing about her mutagenic discoveries if she can’t even identify the chemical that actually does smell like licorice. Perhaps she can motor down to the tank in her Mengele-mobile and grab a sample so a competent non-government lab can figure out what chemical DOES smell like licorice.

Naturally this comment will not be read by those who need to. The cure of the water scenario that keeps getting polluted and in some cases by deliberate poor planning and policies, is to alter those plans & policies. Like how about stopping the aircraft from loading all the deadly disease causing additives being placed into the washroom waste storage tanks of commercial aircraft used for environmental & human health destruction and HAARP activity.

Have a look at where morgellons, altzheimers, dementia, and a general weakening of the populations immune system before the lab created H7N9 recombinant becomes an airborn plague. See http://www.carnicom.com The world’s foremost authority. Lets say…the bun is in the oven BY DSIGN. Also, try using black magnitite sands to restructure it, and add ADYA CLARITY to it to remove heavy metals & impurities. Then there is silver 100 to rid yourself of the Morgellons nano scale o.3 microns in size, that self assembles ( using the bodies own minerals etc, once it bypasses the blood-brain barrier, signals back it’s construction job is complete & readies the victim for HAARP & the electronic cage to cause mental telepathy using psycoenergetics. Why do you think even the cereal has non bioavailable iron in it ? Actually buy a box of any simple cereal like corn flakes & check it out ! Because the cities are loaded with elecrticity pollution. Nestles takes huge amounts of water from the great lakes. Why do you think the gulf loop current was destroyed in 2010. Inappropriate hydrofracking, that also weakens the substrait rock in preparation for the new river that will split the nation from the gulf to the great lakes, AFTER the president SPLITS Israel by the false peace treaty, into two, to create a Palestinian state. Have you read the HARBINGER ” yet? Didn’t think so.

California is in the worst drought in over 100 years to avoid people recognizing the radiation from Fukushima is on the shores just like Hawaii. Or why the rain in the UK is the greatest amount in well over 200 years. It sure aint for carbon credits for the likes of Al Gore, but they do like the profits, even though the airlines would lose their shirts with fewer passengers looking to fly through a radiation cloud these days. It seems like government officials and the truth are like oil and water they just dont mix, They should all be fired as they are obviously not representing the people , this is just another example of corporations controlling the government.

      • Paveway IV

The problem with letting psychopaths and their corporations corrupt your voting and legal system is:

        1. Voting is useless in its current form: They will ALWAYS win – that’s the way it’s rigged
        2. The justice system and lawmakers mostly serve them and their crony psychopaths, not YOU

When faced with the two undeniable facts above, we still insist that 1) voting and 2) the law would somehow fix everything. Anyone who tells you this today is your enemy.

The founding fathers would retch at how easy it was for corporations to give themselves rights exceeding those of the average citizen by corrupting voting and justice system. They warned us that this would happen – they just couldn’t predict the specific ways it ended up happening.

    • shanchen

Yes, power and corruption occupied most favorable land resources, for their own interests rather than fold means. Even harm our interests.mvwotches.com

    • RMS

Why is this so shocking? Come on, these are the same criminals who support Obamacare, and claim “gun-control” will make you safer when they take guns from “law-abiding” citizens., and those who claim “uncontrolled” and free access through our Southern borders will be good for all.
      Why is this a story?

      • Paul Brown

As a matter of fact, WV legislators and executive branch are opposed to gun control. And the freest access through our Southern borders is for corporate criminals and the guns-for-drugs trade facilitated by US law enforcement agencies.

      • Deborah Dupre

RMS – Yes, they are behaving like criminals. To answer your question, however, this is a news story because every one of those officials previously said publicly that the water IS safe and have had 300,000 people intensively poisoned with it. That’s a story.

Mark my words: Unlike hyped propagandized stories designed to distract the masses from hard facts about evilness rampant, and thus supporting NWO’s 1% – this WV catastrophe will continue being a story – an evidence-based, humanitarian, real story – for years to come.
