Treating Hypolordosis: My Beginning Transformation (Video).

Since I was about thirteen years old I have always had terrible back pain. I remember twisting my back in class to pop it (which is not good to do) and people could hear it popping across the room. I constantly had to go to the chiropracter and I longed for massages on my back. The chiropracter and massages have always been a necessity for me instead of a luxury. Still today my back pain still hurts more than ever and I have now found out that I have Hypolordosis. Lordosis is the medical term that describes the natural inward curve or “arch” in your lower back. While there’s nothing abnormal about lordosis, an excess arch or “hyper-lordosis” is a common cause of back pain.

I admit that I sit on the computer a lot to read and write so I guess you could say in this cold weather I have not been very active. Well recently I have started going to the YMCA to use the weights. I always just used the treadmill but I’ve started using the lower back machine and it has been wonders for my back. My back pain decreases so much after I have finished a lower back workout it’s incredible.  Besides doing the weights and machines hear is a couple of tips I have learned to fix/deal with my lordosis:

1. Have a good diet!

-Eating tart cherries or the juice of them along with red grapes helps with pain. These fruits contains resveratrol, a powerful compound that blocks the enzymes that contribute to tissue degeneration.

I found this amazing recipe for pain relief:

Recipe: Grapes and Shrimp With Honey

Adapted by Monica Bhide from How to Cook Indian, by Sanjeev Kapoor

Serves 4

1/4 cup honey
1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
24 large red seedless grapes
16 jumbo shrimps (about 1 pound), peeled and deveined
8 skewers
2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1. Combine the honey, vinegar and 1/2 teaspoon of the salt in a nonstick skillet over medium heat. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes, until bubbly and thick. Remove from the heat and stir in the red pepper flakes. Keep warm.

2. Starting and ending with a grape, alternately thread grapes (3 in total) and shrimp (2) on each skewer. Sprinkle with the remaining salt.

3. Brush a large nonstick grill pan or cast-iron skillet with 1 teaspoon of the oil. Place the pan over medium-high heat until it is very hot but not smoking. Arrange the skewers in the pan and cook, basting with the remaining oil and turning frequently, until the shrimp are cooked on all sides, about 4 minutes.

4. Transfer the skewers to a serving platter. Drizzle with the sauce and serve hot.

-Ginger root relieves pain by blocking an enzyme that’s a key component of the inflammatory process. I usually make a green juice mixed with ginger root and drink it for lunch. After about 20-30 minutes my back pain feels a lot better.

- Also, what has helped me is juicing habanero peppers, putting tumeric in my tea and juice, and I take a fish oil supplement daily.

2. It’s all about stengthening your core and stretching your muscles. So I am now actually going to do crunches and some yoga.

3. Drink Kava Kava it will do wonders for your happiness, relaxation, and pain relief. :)

4. I get at least one hour long deep tissue massage every month as a studying massage therapist and someone who SERIOUS back pain I know how much massage helps my muscles and my whole body feel better. Totally worth it!

5. When you get a massage or you cub rub this on your back use these essential oils below to help with the pain:

Yarrow has anti-inflammatory and anti-spasmodic properties.

Rosemary has analgesic and antispasmodic properties. It is also good for relieving back pain as it improves blood circulation.

Ginger oil can ease back pain and give one more mobility.

Frankincense has anti-inflammatory properties and also acts as a mild sedative.

Peppermint is good for muscle soreness.

Here is a video below explaining good exercises for Hypolordosis:

Stay groovy and get that splendid spine! :)

Sincerely,

Radical Rose
