Amazing 1930’s Pharmacist Map of ‘Herbal Cures’ Released To Public

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Slate just reported on this amazing map of ‘Herbal Cures’ from 1932 of the medicinal plants in common use among pharmacists and the public back then. The map itself states under the heading ‘The Service of Pharmacy’:

“It is important that the public does not lose sight of the fact that the professions of Pharmacy, Medicine, and Dentistry, each give an essential service, which must not be impaired or destroyed by commercial trends. The public and the professions whill suffer equally if these services are allowed to deteriorate.

In pharmacy the public should understand something of the breadth of knowledge required of the pharmacist. Few people realize the extent to which plants and minerals enter into the practice of pharmacy, and how vital they are to the maintenance of the public health. It has been stated that upwards of 70 percent of all medicines employed are plant products.”

Flash forward 80 years and we have a medical system which relies almost entirely on patented chemicals and/or biologicals that are far removed from anything resembling the ‘back yard farmacy’ of yesteryear.

The FDA’s very definition of a drug now precludes the use of natural substances, and drug-based medicine has become a form of human sacrifice, on a scale that may exceed previous civilizations sacrifice of their population for ostensibly religious reasons.

This map should be shared far and wide and hopefully will shed light on the massive, emergent database of natural substances (there are about 1700 indexed on our website alone) that can be used to treat a staggeringly wide range of health conditions (over 3,000 indexed on our site alone).

Note: Amazingly, you will find the much demonized Cannabis Sativa listed as a medicinal plant used on the Druggist’s map!  Consider that in modern times this plant alone has been used to incarcerate hundreds of thousands of citizens simply for possessing, using and/or trading it as a commodity!

yes, because even if you want to use herbs, the active compound is often in such low doses that you need to refine it and concentrate it to have any effect.

technology advances the production of effective medicinal compounds.

you don’t lick mold to get your aspirine, you chemically produce the same compound acetylsalicylic acid which is the active ingredient

Yeah, Man, but, really, Aspirin doesn’t come from mold, it comes from Willow trees or other Salicylate-rich plants. Either way, it’s too bad that technology has been hijacked by greedy opportunists who clamor after filthy lucre. They are known as big pharma and they will stop at nothing to get MORE of everything. They have corrupted otherwise good doctors with irresistible graft for selling their sometimes deadly, mostly harmful or otherwise useless concoctions which they carefully guard and protect then offer for astounding prices thereby garnering incalculable amounts of money (trillions) which they use to manipulate and control the FDA, the AMA, the highest courts and other government offices and lobbyists not to mention (very) highly influencing the outcomes of important elections. All of Capitol Hill has been bought this way and has now been carefully purified down to only the lowest forms of lying, evil, greedy sociopaths who occupy every facet of our federal gov’t and that desire anyone who will slow or stop them to be tragically suicided.

yeah mold was for the discovery of penicillin.

and well other than crying about corruption. The republican and tea party are the cause of allowing unlimited lobbying with money (cause corporations are people too, and the love for free market prices (like truing and his price hike on toxoplasmosis)) and blocking any kind of sensible healthcare reform.

and if you want more of that vote for Ted Cruz.

Supplements, in and of themselves, don’t work – even in concentrated form.

God knows his creation better than we know ourselves. He created the herbs and animals for our food. All the elements, the vitamins and the minerals, of the whole food is created to work together for each element to work properly.

For example, vitamin C. Scientist think extracting only the vitamin C from an orange and putting it into a pill works. But it doesn’t. It takes all the elements of the orange to make the vitamin C work properly. One important element in an orange, any plant, is boron. Boron opens each cell of the body to accept vitamin C. Do some research of boron.

THE problem for ALL of humanity is that scientists, in fact, everyone, suffers from self-deception. God has revealed himself through your conscience and indirectly through revelation. but we suppress that truth in unrighteousness, Romans 1:18. We become a god unto ourselves deciding what is right and what is wrong. Departing from God we become gods. Scientist think they are greater than God. Scientist who deny this revelation from God deceive themselves about their own self-deception. As a result, God gives them over to their own depravity.

          you are rambling man.

      • Daniel Jackson

This is not true, having studied and used herbs you do not have to separate, refine and concentrate the active compounds to have an effect. The recommended dose by herbalist are as equal to the synthetic, the only reason a synthetic version is made is to get a patent on the synthetic to control its sale and profits.

        • Man

yes, using 1 gram of Acetylsalicylic acid from willow bark (or Spiraea) is the same of 1 gram of aspirine. but you need a lot more plants get the same Acetylsalicylic acid.

how much willow bark do you need to use to have a similar dose of 1 aspirine? and does Spiraea have the same concentrations of it?

and the herbs that are shown on the map aren’t for patented medication

    • jknbt

where can I buy a print of this map?

    • mirageseekr

The map is unreadable even when blown up. Is there a link or could get a better quality of this?

      • chefjim

Much thanks for that readable copy. It’s very interesting to see how the whole thing works. These pharmacies extract a plant’s working compound, patent it and then produce a “new drug” from it and make billions! (see my comment to “Man” above) Everything that isn’t nailed down is up for grabs in this post modern, materialistic, hedonist culture we live in! But only to those that can do the “grabbing”, i.e. those with money to start with!

      • Man

        haha seriously?

I took a look at the map. it is outdated.

Coca plant leaves and poppy juice? for a medicine.. yeah have all the cocaine and morphine you want…

    • TIMEWARPER108

your absolutely right Man you wouldn’t lick mould to get aspirin you’d chew a willow twig which would work just as well to thin blood and relieve tension as the pharmaceutical equivalent….they wouldn’t synthesize them if they didn’t work …..think about it

    • openYourMindQuaid

Why are we so polarized on issues, it shouldn’t be an ‘all or nothing’ approach. I agree and see benefits of both sides. The unfortunate thing is the herbal side has been labeled as hocus-pocus and the big-phram side has gotten out of control. So wouldn’t something in the middle make sense?

      …waiting for the pitchforks.
