Greetings family and friends,
All in all I had a really good if not great day! Your next installment of “Blast from the Past” right here, right now:
Original Stardate 8/8/2010:
Top of the morning all. I had some pretty good rest last night. Spirits are high, no cravings for carbs, no cheats and no tummy troubles.
Another pleasant surprise at the morning weigh-in. I broke through the 230s!! It’s just a toe hold, but I’ll take it. When I set my Mini Goal of 234 lbs, I thought it would take a couple of months to get there. At this rate who knows. I don’t want to get too ahead of myself, but I can’t help being excited.
Today I will grill up some Rib eyes for me and my friend, but I will shop for the fatty beef ribs later this evening. I want to stay on the fatty beef experiment.

Original Stardate 8/8/2010:
Today did not go as planned. My friend called me late morning to let me know that he was not coming. If I had known earlier I would have taken a nice stroll along the Water Way or one of the park trails. It also kind of through my eating off. I had planned to grill up some Rib eyes. So instead I ended up going to Target, Wal-Mart and HEB.
I ate on the road. While at Wal-Mart I ordered two double cheese burgers at Mickey D. I felt like I did not have enough to eat so I went through the Burger King drive thru and ordered two Buck Doubles. I then felt satisfied. Of course I threw away the buns and wiped off the condiments. They were OK. I almost never eat anything anymore at Mickey D’s. I rather eat from Burger King.
I did find some Fatty Beef Ribs at HEB @ $1.78 lbs. I wrapped them up in foil and cooked them in the oven for four hours. By the time they were ready, I was able to just pull out the bones with a simple tug. I got out the meat clever and chopped them up like I did the brisket. I made sure to pure in all the lovely liquid fat that collected on the bottom of the pan. I have to say it way pretty fatty. Needless to say I ate some of the fatty beef ribs.
I am not happy with the way I ate today. I know it was my choice, but for some reason I not happy about it.

Observation:
Wow, what a day this Rookie had! The day turn from upbeat to a little somber. That is Life, right? OK, so he made some plans, then a turn of events changed for him. The change effected his mental and physical being. OK, so how did he cope with it………..dove into a mound of ice cream, Twinkies or other comfort foods? No, he just made adjustments and rolled with it. Not bad for an inexperienced Rookie! Some folks will find the littlest excuses to cheat….yes they will. Not this guy, he just went forward the best way he could while staying Zero Carb!
Although his was disappointed that his friend did not come to visit, he went on the hunt and bagged a few Zero Carb delights. I want to laugh at some of the low prices at that time period on Beef. Jeez I wish those prices would come back, but we all know it is almost impossible.
Look-it: He even made some adjustments to what he ate that day while on the run hunting for meat bargains. Mickey D and Burger King. Well, I have to say Mickey D sucks in my book. I will only eat there if there is no other choice or in extreme conditions. I have always like Burger King, but not as much today as I did in the past. A (ZC)er must always be prepared for changing situations and plan accordingly. Heck, a bag of plain Pork Rinds and a bottle of water will hold me and they can be found at almost any convenience store.
There is never an excuse to CHEAT. Sorry, but I don’t go for that at all. I rather be hungry than eat carbs. That is just me and the Rookie.
Have a wonderful ZC day my family and friends. Make the right choices for Life in all things that you do. Fight the Good Fight and Always Battle On!!!
