5 Tips to Boost Your Memory Instantly

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

We all worry about getting older. We do not want to get sick, have to go to the doctors all the time, and worst of all lose our memory. There are simple things we can do to stay healthy, but what about our memory? Are there ways we can actually boost it instantly? I have done some research, and it seems as though there are multiple ways to do so. Here are my 5 tips to boost your memory instantly. You will be glad you read this!

Exercise
I am a big advocate for exercise. It seems as though when you are active, your brain is being stimulated and nerve cells begin to multiply. Regular exercise also helps to increase blood flow up to your brain. You brain pretty much in charge of your memory, isn’t it? Doctors recommend you get the most out of your exercise. For those just beginning, take a 30 minute walk each day. For those more advance, complete a high intensity interval training workout 3 or 4 times a week. The important thing is to keep active. Once your exercise declines, so does your blood flows to your brain, and thus your brain power begins to decrease by 1 to 2% each year. Stay active and you will notice results immediately in your brain and memory.

Eat right
If you want to keep improving memory, then I recommend you start to look at your diet. I have read numerous articles about the warnings of high fructose corn syrup and other artificial sweeteners. You need to be eating more vegetables and nuts like broccoli, celery, cauliflower and walnuts. These provide you with antioxidants and compounds that stimulate the production of new brain cells. You should also be eating plenty of Omega-3 from fish, and reduce the intake of Omega-6 fats from things like vegetable oil. This will improve brain function and your memory. If you are looking for a quick fix, then just have a tablespoon of coconut oil each day. This is a healthy fat, and will quickly improve your brain and memory function.

Sleep
This is probably my favorite thing to do on this list. My favorite thing to do each night is going to bed, and my least favorite thing to do each morning is to wake up. Sleep improves the way your brain works. Think about it – when you are up all night cramming for an exam, you do not retain any of the information after you take the test. When you study and eat right and sleep for 8 hours, you retain the information long after you sat the exam. Your mind needs to rest, and the only way it can is if the rest of your body is asleep too. With proper amounts of sleep, your brain and memory will improve. Plus, you will be less stressed and more coherent as well.

Play a brain game
During some down time, something I don’t have much of, I enjoy playing a brain game. It helps me with my memory and prevents me from doing something I shouldn’t be like having a snack or just watching the television. I really enjoy the old fashioned game Memory. You put the cards face down, and you have them laid out in a grid style, four rows of four cards, so it creates a square. You have one chance to pick out a pair. You need to remember where the flower was since the person before you didn’t get the match. It is competitive if you play with a lot of cards and a lot of people. This was perhaps my favorite childhood game, and it was helping to improve my memory all at the same time.

Gingko
If you cannot improve your memory with food, sleep or games, then you should try an all-natural herbal supplement. It is usually taken by Alzheimer sufferers, but you can also take it to improve your memory. It is a simply pill that will also assist with glaucoma, eye diseases caused by diabetes, macular degeneration and memory loss, but may cause some side effects as well. This is one of the top memory pills on the market, and you do not even need a prescription for it. As for the side effects, some report head aches and ringing in the ear. This is common with most medications. Remember, this pill is a way to boost your memory instantly, but is not necessarily the best thing if you want long term memory results. I always recommend a healthy diet and exercise first, then use an herbal supplement like this for added benefits.
