What Happens to Your Body After You Drink Diet Soda

How does soda and diet soda affect your body? You may be shocked to know the truth about what is actually going on inside your body every time you drink some cola and the effects it has on you both long term and short term.

Phosphoric acid in the soda attacks the enamel in your teeth, while artificial sweeteners like aspartame attack your system. Aspartame may trigger taste receptors and trick your body into thinking it has just processed sugar when in fact it is processing poison.

Studies published by the Purdue University from Susan E. Swithers and colleagues shows that frequent consumption of high-intensity sweeteners may have the opposite effect by confusing the body’s natural ability to manage calories based on tasting something the body perceives as sweet when it actually poisoning you.

According to a report published in the General Dentistry, phosphoric acid in soda causes tooth enamel erosion, even with just minimal exposure to the chemical.

The combination of caffeine and aspartame creates a potential addictive high similar to the way cocaine works according to researchers. Excitotoxins are released which may exhaust your brain by overstimulating it’s neuro receptors, especially if consumed on a regular basis.

Cravings for more coke are explained by the release of two neurotransmitters in the brain, dopamine, and glutamate.

Caffeine and aspartame increase dopamine levels as shown in various studies.

Aspartame literally turns into formaldehyde and methanol inside your body and breaks down into “phenylalanine (50%), aspartic acid (40%) and methanol (10%) during metabolism in the body. The excess of phenylalanine blocks the transport of important amino acids to the brain contributing to reduced levels of dopamine and serotonin,” according to a study.

Not only does drinking soda with the ingredient Caramel Color cause cancer, but soda itself also lowers a man’s sperm count, according to scientists.

In the study, scientists from the Copenhagen University Hospital found that men who consumed soda reported sperm counts averaging 35 million per milliliter, compared to sperm counts of 56 million per milliliter for those who abstained.

Following the results of their study of 2,554 men, the researchers warned that drinking one liter of soda per day could reduce an individual’s sperm count by a massive 30%, eventually resulting in erectile dysfunction.

The study found there was no link between caffeine and the loss of sperm count, suggesting it was another ingredient causing the loss of sperm in men.

Last year, it was revealed that artificial sweeteners like Splenda are dangerous and could cause cancer and Leukemia when scientists fed rats with Splenda until they died. Prior to that revelation, in January it was announced that sugar is not good for your body and it could also cause cancer. Another study linked sugar to the growth of cancer.
