5 WAYS TO EASE MIGRAINE PAIN [FAST]

What is a Migraine?

A migraine is not like your typical headache. Instead, a migraine is a repeating and a throbbing headache that commonly affects one side of the head. Most of the times a migraine is accompanied by nausea and troubled vision. It may also include sensitivity to sound or light. More commonly migraines tend to be genetic and are passed down from one generation to another. Recent research has identified certain genetic traits or components associated with migraines.

The duration of a migraine attack can vary. Most commonly it will last for about 4 hours. If symptoms persist for more than 72 hours, then it’s important to visit your primary care physician as it could be an emergency. As of now, there are many ways, recommended by experts, to ease the pain from a migraine attack, such as exercise, vitamins, CBD Oil and various acupuncture methods. We will discuss each one of them one by one below:

Ways to Ease Migraine Pain

  • Putting an Ice Pack Over Your head or neck

Now, this may not be true for some people but a vast majority of people who suffer from migraine state that they feel good when they put an ice pack or anything cold over their head or neck.

Since ice is an anti-inflammatory substance and makes our skin numb due to its cold effect; it is often used by sufferers as a way for easing out migraine pain.

  • Exercise

Any type of exercise, whether it be strength training, cardio or even yoga, can help to prevent headaches.

Since a good amount of exercise on a weekly basis can help to keep our bodies in good shape, it goes a long way in ensuring the overall physical as well as mental health of ourselves. It is also a great migraine reliever.

You’ve probably noticed that you feel good, happy and much more active after you’ve exercised. This is because exercise releases endorphins which are the body’s “feel good” hormone. These hormones help to relax our overall body and eliminate unnecessary stress. Endorphins also help to relieve pain.

Exercise also helps to generate new mitochondria, which builds new blood vessels and thus helps in the circulation of oxygen throughout the body.

As you can see, exercise holds the key to preventing headaches from occurring in the first place. However, if you are one of those people who suffer from exercise induced-headaches then it’s advisable to practice low intensity exercises such as Yoga, which is a great way to keep your body, mind and soul healthy.

  • Vitamins, Anti-Oxidants & Oil Massage

According to recent studies, vitamin B12 is associated with the reduction in the frequency of migraines. Therefore, including it in your diet could be a brilliant idea. You can take it either in the form of a pill, or you’ll be able to find it in standard foods like fish, cheese and chicken.

All forms of Vitamin B perform a lot of essential functions in the body. So it is wise to take a b-complex pill daily along with your meals so that you never miss out of any of the B vitamins.

Another popular supplement is COQ 10. This is a powerful antioxidant, also known for being able to reduce blood pressure and nourish the mitochondria. It also works in the same way as vitamin B12, helping to reduce the frequency of migraines.

Before starting out with any treatment that involves vitamins or anti-oxidants, it is wise to contact your physician first since he/she can tell you as to in which vitamin you are deficient. It will also help to pinpoint the reason for those nasty migraine pains.

Over the last year, a new form of medication has hit the shelves. It is known as CBD oil. This form of oil has been proven to help a variety of medical conditions, among them headaches and migraines. It’s main use is for anxiety and chronic or acute pain, but migraine sufferers from all over the world are praising its ability to reduce the pain associated with migraines.

While additional research is still required to conclude whether it is an effective form of treatment, CBD oil is slowly gaining traction. CBD oil is commonly used in the form of a tincture drop, but there are rumors that some people massage their head with the oil to find relief.

  • Acupuncture

According to recent studies, traditional Chinese acupuncture has been proven to provide a certain amount of measurable relief.

Also, it has been proven that acupuncture reduces the frequency of migraines as well as their impact or severity.

Although most people are terrified of inserting needles in their head, it is definitely worth a shot if you want to experience long lasting-effects. Some people have reported after acupuncture treatment they have experienced relief for a period of over 2 months, without even one single migraine.

  • Eat Turkey & Go Herbal

Tryptophan is a major amino acid present in Turkey. Tryptophan is a necessary amino acid for stimulation of dopamine in the brain. Now, if you know a little bit about anatomy, you’ve probably heard that dopamine is also known as the “happiness inducing chemical.”

It makes you feel happy and awesome. Also, dopamine is one of the necessary components for the production of serotonin. This chemical is also known for helping to relax the body by eliminating all kinds of worries, stress and negativity.

Serotonin tends to have a sedating effect and can relax muscles around the brain. This gives the nerves a chance to calm down and creates an overall soothing effect on the brain.

If you are thinking about trying some herbal remedies for easing out and reducing migraine pain, simply head over to your local herbal garden or herbal store and look for ginger, cayenne or peppermint. These are natural substances that help to ease out pain. They are also well known for helping to eliminate both headaches as well as nausea caused by a migraine attack.

The method of using these herbal substances is easy. Simply drink these herbal substances in the form of herbal tea by mixing cayenne pepper, ginger and peppermint leaves together in hot water for about 15 minutes. You can also add in lavenders and lemons which are perfect for soothing the pain associated with your migraine.

Final Thoughts

If you have a migraine, of course, you can run to the nearest medicine cabinet, but if you are looking for an alternative medicine, then one of these 5 are bound to help. Irrespective to which one you choose, know that stress is a major element in causing throbbing headaches. If you manage to reduce the stress in your life and employ any of the methods mentioned above you will have a killer remedy that will go a long way in eliminating those nasty migraines.
