The Frankenstein Monster Called ObamaCare Awakens

Yesterday ObamaCare, the Frankenstein monster of our generation, came alive. It birth was not smooth with “glitches” blamed by Dr. Obama, our modern-day equivalent of the Dr. Frankenstein from Mary Shelley’s famous novel, on “start-up problems.”

Obama incredulously likened these issues to problems encountered by Apple’s recent introduction of new operating software for its I-phone. The analogy was hardly appropriate as few experienced issues with the introduction of the new I-phone. If anyone did, they had recourse. They were not forced to buy a phone, either via threat of taxation or punishment under the law. Furthermore, the government had three years and unlimited funds to prevent the fiasco that occurred.

Many who tried to obey the law and sign up for this ill-conceived monstrosity found the websites dysfunctional. Others who managed to get a live person in lieu of the website(s) were just as frustrated with the lack of direction. Some compared the experience of getting a live person to dealing with the mutant off-spring from a Department of Motor Vehicle’s father and an Internal Revenue Service mother.

Mary Shelley, the author of the famous novel Frankenstein, must in some strange way be thinking “I told you so” from some distant grave. One can imagine the creature known as ObamaCare thinking these thoughts expressed by her fictional monster:

God, in pity, made man beautiful and alluring, after his own image; but my form is a filthy type of yours, more horrid even from the very resemlance. There Is No Surprise Here

The rude birth of ObamaCare should surprise no one. Even the Statists who pushed it, viewed it more as a vehicle to control every aspect of the lives of the people who serve them. It could never improve the overall delivery of healthcare in the country. The US already had the best medical care system in the world.

That medical costs were considered too high relative to other countries was like comparing apples and oranges. The “equity” of poor versus rich in terms of medical care costs could have been handled without creating a Rube Goldberg contraption that was doomed from the start.

ObamaCare was never intended to improve the healthcare system in the US. It was to be the ultimate redistribution scheme. It was the fruition of Otto von Bismarck’s wildest dreams — a tool of government that would ensure loyalty from one class of voters while enabling government to gain almost total control over every aspect of citizen behavior. It was, from the very beginning, the ultimate leap forward by the predatory Welfare State.
