A Respectful Response to ‘25 Critical Facts About This Ebola Outbreak That Every American Needs To Know’

I very much appreciate this compilation of major issues regarding the Ebola problem.

It is informative and I believe SINCERE amidst the spite of fear-mongering worst-case scenario SCIENCE FICTION being offered up ad naseum across the internet.

Americans and everyone worldwide should indeed be concerned, but not terrified by the current limited scale of the current Ebola outbreak across three small countries of west Africa. Our fellow human beings in Africa, however, such be extremely concerned and take the utmost precautions of protecting against public exposure to others and casual relationships.

#1 …the spread of Ebola is starting to become exponential…

#2 It is the worst Ebola outbreak thus far…

I think the spread of Ebola in this last case although larger than the others (1711 compared to previous numbers of 318, 284, 315, 425) is probably comparable because I have read the mitigating circumstances of the rise in infections this time around.

According to several published reports, the reason that the current epidemic has not been isolated and brought under control by now is because the poor primitive peoples that have fallen victim are making matters much worse because they don’t trust the gov’t, hospitals and medical workers (would you if your relatives entered a place and then mostly died?), and many families (suspecting witchcraft or merely general perfidy of authorities), including some groups with machetes, have fought and freed their relatives, fleeing the area still infected, and even clashing with local police.

Check the specific news reports for this info.

Regardless of this explanation, 1700+ cases within a limited geographical area is NOT in any wise a pandemic – especially when compared to the millions who died from the airborn SPANISH INFLUENZA of 100 years ago, or even the tens of thousands of first responders/NYC locals currently dying of cancer from the 9/11 tragedy.

#3 The head of the World Health Organization says that this outbreak “is moving faster than our efforts to control it“.

EVERY OUTBREAK of EVERY DISEASE is at one time ‘out of control’ by definition. My daughter’s recent bout of measles was out of our control, but some sleepless nights and diligence to keep her cool and medicated brought the infection under control.

So far, every outbreak of Ebola over these forty years was at first out of control and spread faster than those trying to quarantine it could move. But their diligent efforts rendered the outbreak defeated eventually taking by average a little over half of its victims.

Future outbreaks will probably see higher and higher rates of recovery from Ebola based on published statistics.  At present, 932 or 54% of those infected have died, but the published accounts of a doctor and nurse showing dramatic recovery from a vaccine is encouraging.

#4 The head of Doctors Without Borders says that this outbreak is “out of control“.

The unfortunately frequent use of the expression ‘out of control’ is an inflammatory description at best and often one of frustration, but nevertheless true UNTIL the healthcare professionals, quarantine, and time and chance bring the viral outbreak back under control.

#5 So far, more than 100 health workers that were on the front lines fighting the virus have ended up contracting Ebola themselves.  This is happening despite the fact that they go to extraordinary lengths to keep from getting the disease.

This is also the case with every known case in of handling of communicable viruses.  In a few labs in the US, Italy, UK and Russia, some of the most highly-trained virologist in the world have ‘pricked their finger’ and already either recovered or died from the Ebola virus.

It is an occupational hazard that no matter how careful you are, mistakes and unseen factors or carelessness will claim their victims from time to time.

The reported one hundred health workers–which seems like a conservative figure–who are much less highly-trained than the lab scientists are much more likely to make perhaps fatal mistakes when they put their lives at risk.

#6 There is no cure for Ebola.

Really? See these articles about a vaccine with 100% cure rate, but MSM/TPTB/Big Pharma shrug it off because of the limited African outbreaks:

EBOLA VACCINE Reportedly Making Headway! Death rate of deadly disease down significantly in current outbreak!

A breakthrough cure for Ebola (original journal article)

#7 The death rate for this current Ebola outbreak is over 50 percent, and experts say that it can kill “up to 90% of those infected.”

Finally, someone is honest about the 50-60% death rate.  The current outbreak has claimed 54% of victims – far better than the previous outbreaks, 88%, 90%, etc..

Recall that contracting AIDS/HIV was at one time a certain death sentence (100% mortality rate) and that it raged over Africa in the 1980s due to many of the same factors as with Ebola. But it was not airborn either and was gotten under control without the promised global pandemic by authorities.

The average 63% mortality rate of Ebola is certainly for at least two reasons:

1) This is an impoverished region where the hospitals treating Ebola victims have been RE-USING injection needles over and over among all the patients, as well as unsanitary and unclean conditions, inexperienced healthcare workers, and all the complications that arise.

This is undoubtedly why the earliest cases of Ebola in Zaire (Congo) and Sudan had such high percentages of fatality.

2) There are four or five types/strains of Ebola and some (Zaire ebola) are more deadly than others (one, Reston virus, doesn’t even infect humans or make them sick at all and is excluded from serious consideration).

Strangely, these different versions of the virus are RARELY mentioned in the rash of hyped articles of invariably impeding global doom, therefore, most assume the worst.

The first cases (Zaire ebola) were the most deadly and in part because of the poor healthcare conditions covered earlier, it claimed `88% of those infected, whereas the Sudan version took around 53% in equally deplorable situations.

AMAZINGLY, this most recent outbreak is in fact the more deadly Zaire ebola, so what are the stats?

Thus far, instead of the higher casualty rates, of 1323 currently reported as of July 27, 729 or 56% have died [WHO stats].

Great News! THIS IS MUCH LOWER THAN MOST PREVIOUSLY REPORTED outbreaks of Zaire ebola!

IS IT BECAUSE of VASTLY IMPROVED MEDICAL CONDITIONS and ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE and HANDLING of the patients and disease? We would think so with the worldwide professional response to this latest outbreak.

But why is this vast improvement not emphasized?

Since the recovery rates of this current epidemic have significantly increased from 10%-20% up to 44%, I SINCERELY QUESTION the characterizing of it as ‘out of control’ and ‘the worst ever’ when treatments are becoming statistically much more successful!

#8 The incubation rate for Ebola ranges from two days to 21 days.  Therefore, someone can be carrying it around for up to three weeks without even knowing it.

That is why people in infected and neighboring areas should always be careful around others and keep a respectful distance for safety sake. That’s common sense advise for everyone in the modern world.

#9 For the first time ever, human Ebola patients are being brought to the United States.

NO ONE in their right mind would bring a potentially pandemic-causing case into the US! The professionals certainly KNOW that it can be handled safely because it is NOT AIRBORN.  Published MSM and alternative articles say as much.

#10 This has already potentially happened in the United Kingdom.  A woman reportedly collapsed and later died on Saturday after she got off of a flight from Sierra Leone at Gatwick Airport.

Maybe it was, maybe it wasn’t. Lots of people die or suffer health problems after experiencing air travel or for other reasons. We need confirmed facts in every case, not speculation.

#11 A study conducted in 2012 proved that Ebola could be transmitted between pigs and monkeys that were in separate cages and that never made physical contact.

Seriously Questionable given four decades of statistics. Where is the pier research to confirm these alleged findings. See if you can find any.  Sponsored research is also ued to ‘prove’ that GMO is 100% healthy.

But the REAL ‘PROOF’ here and of any theory is in the long-term (forty years) recorded statistics.

If EBOLA were floating through the atmosphere — harkening back to the SPANISH INFLUENZA epidemic of 100 years ago — then millions upon millions would ALREADY BE DEAD in Africa and those few places where the few lab virologists had accidents in US, UK, Italy, and Russia. Some died, some didn’t, but no exposed family members reportedly died.

#12 This is a new strain of Ebola, so what we know about other strains of Ebola may not necessarily apply to this strain of Ebola.

Actually, after extensive debate among experts, the current strain was determined to be of the Zaire ebola (EBOV) type. Regardless of this, the rate of death reported is significantly lower than earlier cases.

#13 Barack Obama has just signed an executive order …

This latest executive order goes hand in hand with all the others which restrict and take away personal freedoms, yet the perforated southern borders stream with thousands of potential terrorists and health risks – is the government concerned with this inconsistency in the ‘war on terror’?

#14 And as I noted the other day, federal law …

Ditto.

#15 According to the CDC, there are 20 quarantine centers around the country that are prepared to potentially receive Ebola patients…

Ditto.

#16 The CDC has set up an Ebola “quarantine station” at LAX in order to help prevent the spread of the virus.

Makes good sense if properly done and for the stated reasons.

#17 The largest health emergency drill in New York City history was conducted on Friday.

Ditto.

#18 The federal government will begin testing an “experimental Ebola vaccine” on humans in September.

A vaccine is already being used with fantastic results.  Look it up.

#19 We are being told that the reason why we don’t have an Ebola vaccine already is due to the hesitation of the pharmaceutical industry to invest in a disease that has “only affected people in Africa“.

No vaccine was developed previously because by average less than 1000 mostly rural African villagers have contracted Ebola per year since it began in 1976. Also, Ebola will go 15 or 6 or so years between outbreaks.

#20 Researchers from Tulane University have been active for several years in the very same areas where this Ebola outbreak began.  One of the stated purposes of this research was to study “the future use of fever-viruses as bioweapons“.

If TPTB want to create another in their arsenal of bioweapons, their previous efforts are admitted and well-documented.

#21 According to the Ministry of Health and Sanitation in Sierra Leone, researchers from Tulane University have been asked “to stop Ebola testing during the current Ebola outbreak“.  What in the world does that mean?

Perhaps they were not helping or were hindering treatment of the outbreak.

#22 The Navy Times says that the U.S. military has been interested in studying Ebola “as a potential biological weapon” since the 1970s…

See #20

Filoviruses like Ebola have been of interest to the Pentagon since the late 1970s, mainly because Ebola and its fellow viruses have high mortality rates — in the current outbreak, roughly 60 percent to 72 percent of those who have contracted the disease have died…

Really? The stats I’ve read [World Health Organization, et.al] state this data for the current outbreak:

1711 infected, 932 died = 54% mortality (27 July 2014) – DOWN 2% SINCE LAST WEEK, not 60-72% numbers which are characteristically reported for some earlier outbreaks.

#23 The CDC actually owns a patent on one particular strain of the Ebola virus…

Would seem to connect with bio-weaponization also.

#24 The CDC has just put up a brand new webpage entitled “Infection Prevention and Control Recommendations for Hospitalized Patients with Known or Suspected Ebola Hemorrhagic Fever in U.S. Hospitals“.

Factual information is good.

#25 …Many are attempting to play down the threat from this virus by stating that unless you “exchange bodily fluids” with someone that you don’t have anything to worry about.

FACTS are FACTS and untempered consistent speculation is dangerous and demoralizing. Sincere stats recorded over forty years are what they are. And no AIRBORN pandemics have erupted thus far, and probably won’t if the AIDS/HIV case study is any indicator of how the very nearly identical Ebola will play out.

Thank you for inviting me and any others to comment on your excellent  compilation of relevant EBOLA issues.
