Hillary Clinton's healthcare plans are in danger

As Obamacare proved to be such a big disappointed, Hillary Clinton sparkled interest when she partially focused her campaign on reforming the healthcare system. Her ambitious plans of funding the research for Alzheimer’s and put a stop to the rising prescription drug’s cost might be in danger, as Obamacare is living what appears to be its final days. The actual viability of the Affordable Care Act is being questioned.

Is lowering the drug’s price an option?

Even if Clinton’s wins the election, she will struggle to reform the ACA and negotiate new prices with the pharmaceutical companies. Many analysts from the healthcare administration and the political environment doubt the plan of lowering the costs is even achievable.

Caroline Pearson, the senior vice-president of Avalere Health, a consulting firm, says Clinton will have to focus on fixing the ACA with the Congress in 2017, which means the drug price plans will have to wait. This is a big blow, as most Americans think the drug costs are too unreasonable.

Opinions are divided

As some specialists in healthcare argue the viability of Clinton’s plans, her supporters are saying everything is possible. They argue that the high drug cost is the first problem that needs to be addressed, in order to help the reformation and give the next generation of masters in health administration a better system to work with, as well as relieving the public from the burden of drug’s cost. However, Clinton’s chances of success seem to depend on how she will address the matter.

Lobbyists says that if Clinton manages to get the Democrats and the Republicans agree on ACA, she will manage to carry on with her agenda. But Hillary Clinton made a point saying she wants to take the debate from where she left it, on the public option, which might become a major distraction for her administration, as the Republicans are opposed to the public option.

A busy calendar

The new administration is going to find itself in a clock-ticking situation, as 2017 is filled with health-related deadlines which force the Congress to take action. On top of these, the new administration is going to be busy with non-medical activities, such as passing budgets and appointing the Cabinet, so managing drug costs and ACA reformation at the same time might prove difficult.

For the time being, we can only wait and see: first, someone has to win the elections, then they will have to pass a very busy 100 days.
