California considering legal driver’s licenses for illegals

California houses between four and five million illegal alien migrants. It suffers broken school systems, bankrupted hospitals, exploding prisons and $24 billion in statewide debt.  It features one of the largest underground, non-taxpaying worker schemes in the United States.  All of it tied to illegal migrants.

Instead of taking decisive action to stop illegal aliens from maintaining their ability to live and work in California, Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck wants to give illegal aliens a legal driver’s license.  That in turn, will encourage millions of illegals to bring their families.

Completely Illogical “Solution” to State’s Immigration Crisis

Dan Stein, president of the Federation for Immigration Reform, www.FAIRUS.org , spoke with me on what this legalization means.

According to LA Police Chief Charlie Beck, “all the things that we’ve done — ‘we’ being the state of California — over the last 14, 16 years have not reduced the problem one iota, haven’t reduced undocumented aliens driving without licenses. So we have to look at what we’re doing. When something doesn’t work over and over and over again, my view is that you should reexamine it to see if there is another way that makes more sense.”

“Well, we’d agree with that,” said Stein. “The State’s policies have actually increased the number of illegal aliens driving in California by attracting further illegal immigration. Everything that California has done over the past two decades has exacerbated their illegal immigration crisis, endangered public safety and depleted state resources. However, the solution Police Chief Beck and LA County Sheriff Lee Baca suggest – giving driver’s licenses to illegal aliens – aggravates the problem by transforming California from a sanctuary state to an outright oasis for illegal aliens.

“Illegal aliens already have nearly every major elected official in California advocating for them. Instead of representing taxpaying citizens, the Legislature, the Governor and most mayors are committed to keeping illegal aliens in the state by providing them with taxpayer public benefits. On top of in-state tuition and even scholarships for illegal aliens, city officials around the state want lawbreakers to drive, live and work without fear of consequences or arrest – let alone threat of being turned over to federal authorities for possible deportation. All this threatens the rule of law and endangers all U.S. residents.

“Now, the men in charge of public safety in the nation’s 2nd largest city want to give illegal aliens a further stamp of approval by issuing them driver’s licenses.  Of course, they don’t have the power to do more than lobby for this change and Congress has passed laws to discourage states from issuing driver’s licenses to illegal aliens. Then again, when has California ever let itself feel hindered by common sense, public safety or the rule of law?”
