An alliance of narcos against Sinaloa

Intelligence sources estimate that behind the kidnapping of Jesus Alfredo Guzman Salazar “Alfredito”, son of narco trafficker Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, and another five persons in Puerto Vallarta on the morning of the 15th of August, one finds a perverse alliance between the CJNG and the Beltran Leyva brothers, with a view to creating the most powerful criminal organization in Mexico.

The coalition of the Beltran Leyva with Los Zetas in Sonora, Los Guerreros Unidos in Guerrero and other criminal factions in diverse territories; and the pact of the CJNG with the cartel Arellano Felix and their infiltration in sectors of the Sinaloa cartel in Baja California, are clear signs of territorial expansion in the market and transit of drugs.

The BLO that dispute for control of narco trafficking in Sonora, Sinaloa and Nayarit, would be amplified with their connections to Jalisco and Baja California, as well as Chihuahua. For their part, the Jaliscienses would be in business in some of the north east States where previously they have had no influence.

The source consulted by ZETA sustains his or her hypothesis in a person that would be a hub between these criminal groups: Rafael Caro Quintero, who during his stay in the State prison of Puente Grande, which he left in 2010, saw a surge of the CJNG that controls the central penitentiaries, with whom the Sinaloans had an excellent relation with discretion of the pacific leadership.

With Caro Quintero leading a project to create a “mega cartel” it would be allied also to the people of Los Carrillo Fuentes ( nephews of his ex colleague Ernesto Fonseca Carrillo “Don Neto”) in Chihuahua and some groups of Los Zetas outside of Coahuila, Tamaulipas and Veracruz, searching for a geographical formation controlling narco trafficking, like that which existed three decades ago: The Pacific cartel and its antagonistic enemies the Cartel del Golfo.

The persecution of the closest collaborators and family of the imprisoned capo Joaquin Archivaldo Guzman Loera, represents a personal vengeance of the Beltran Leyva, which would mean that in order for Rafael Caro to reconcile with the part of the Sinaloa cartel that has not been attacked on block, is represented by Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada in the “Golden Triangle”.

The criminal cells of other organizations such as the Knights Templar and its derivatives in Michoacán, Los Rojos in Guerrero and others in the region of La Laguna and the south east of the country would also have to align or on contrary the “war” would crush them, said the informant of military extraction, who collaborated with the Federal Government in previous administrations.

On the morning of the 15th of August, around 10 after midnight, an armed commando broke into the La Leche restaurant of Puerto Vallarta, where a group of men and women, headed by Jesus Alfredo Guzman Salazar, son of “El Chapo” Guzman were having a celebration. The armed subject with assault rifles kidnapped the youngster and five others.

Initially there was huge confusion, in the gastronomic establishment located on the Principal Avenue in the tourist destination, the police arrived 40 minutes after the kidnapping, the restaurant staff had set a table for 16 people and the police presumed that all had been kidnapped.

To justify their mistake, the local authorities argued that the report was carried out a long time before the event as well as them having received other calls informing or a robbery by a numerous group of individuals at the Hotel Fiesta Americana and a collective fight at various locations, which diverted resources and materials for what turned out to be false emergencies.

Outside the restaurant, the Police observed five stationary vehicles, all white in color, one of them armored, that were pertinent to the “kidnappers”, like they never carried out the kidnapping and abandoned the place.

The perpetrators, said employees of La Leche, arrived at the site on board various vehicles and aboard two vans, white colored, stormed the restaurant by force looking for the son of “El Chapo” Guzman and his friends, who had no weapons and didn’t resist.

That same morning, the Attorney General of Jalisco, Jesus Eduardo Almaguer Ramirez, confirmed the events, giving the data that 16 persons had been kidnapped, and whom went to Puerto Vallarta with a team of investigators to monitor events. The Governor Aristoteles Sandoval Diaz announced that they had already begun a search for the victims by land and air.

On the same Monday the 15th, the Attorney General of the State started a deficient investigation with the official version of events differing from the information offered on social networks and communication media. One of the principal lines of investigation signalled that among the kidnapped had been  a man whose surname was Coronel, and another had been a bodyguard of the ex governor of Jalisco, Emilio Gonzalez Marquez and a businessman from Nayarit.

In the afternoon in a press conference, the Attorney recanted the information and said that they were treating the event as a kidnapping of between 10 – 12 people, that came from the States of Jalisco, Nayarit and Sinaloa. He reiterated the data of the bodyguard and added that he would corroborate if one of the victims had parentage or not of the narco trafficker Ignacio Coronel.

The majority of the patrons of the restaurant had been vacationing  in the Port since the 8th of August, they were staying at the Marriot Hotel, among them various women who were witness to the multiple kidnapping, and later after recovering from nervous shock, could retire without being molested by some authorities. After, when the Public Ministry wanted to find them, they could not located them.

During the night of the same date, a Jalisco Government spokesman, Gonzalez Sanchez, informed via his twitter account, that finally there were between six and seven men kidnapped by the sicarios and assured that the investigation appeared to suggest that the events occurred because of a dispute between organized criminal groups.

The closed circuit tv recordings were taken by the Attorney General and transferred via air to the city of Guadalajara for experts from the Jalisco Institute of Forensic Science to examine the images of the kidnapped and kidnappers for identification purposes.

On the morning of the 16th, the prosecutor in a radio interview confirmed that the number of Kidnapped was six and revealed that one was the son of drug trafficker Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman. Some media sources pointed out that it was Ivan Archivaldo, and others, that is was Jesus Alfredo Guzman Salazar.

That afternoon, Almaguer Ramirez, in a press conference confirmed the identity of Jesus Alfredo as one of the kidnapped, together with Juan Daniel Calva Tapia, of 53 years, Josias Nahualli Rabago Borbolla, approximately 35 years of age, and Victor Galvan Urena, 46 years old, whom they knew were kidnapped from the south coast of Jalisco in the vehicle of their captors.

At the time there were 30 avenues of research, 25 expert opinions, 15 interviews with witnesses, the inspection of the 5 vehicles as well as a review of the video footage, had led to no detentions and the non location of any of the victims.

On the morning of Wednesday the 17th of August, Blog del Narco published photographs obtained of the video from La Leche restaurant. The photos had been edited to show each of the six men abducted and others showed the faces of the kidnappers. Other graphics showed the moments in which the kidnapped were kneeling in front of the sicarios with assault rifles.

Before the appearance of the photos, the version that a son of “El Chapo” was among the kidnapped was a leak that had been confirmed by the prosecutor, who in his eagerness to grant interviews to radio stations to declare that he didn’t know how the photos had leaked out, when only he and his team of experts had access to the cctv footage.

During the night of the 17th, two new leaks occurred, one was a photograph of Kate Castillo with allegedly Jesus Alfredo Guzman. On social networks a photo surfaced taken on a mobile phone taken at the scene of the crime.

The other was a 38 second video fragment of the moment of arrival and departure of the commando that was shared massively.

The Attorney General and Secretary General of the Government of Jalisco informed that they were investigating who or whom were linked to the leak of information and that there would be consequences, for those responsible.

On Thursday the 18th of August, SEIDO took ownership of the evidence in the case. This news was confirmed by a delegate of the Jalisco PGR, Ramon Ernesto Badillo Aguilar.

Concerning the possible abduction of Ivan Archivaldo Guzman “El Chapito”, Eduardo Almaguer said that ” so far there is no indication, after review of the video and photographs and interviews with witnesses, that this other person was among the kidnapped, and said they are working to confirm the identity of the remaining two unidentified abductees.

Jesus Alfredo Guzman Salazar is the fourth of four brothers, sons of Alejandrina Maria Salazar Hernandez, of woman of 57 years, originally of Culiacan, Sinaloa, who in August of 1977 who was joined in civil matrimony in the village of Jesus Maria, Sinaloa, with the narco trafficker Joaquin Archivaldo Guzman Loera.

Alejandrina, who declared in February of 2005 before SEIDO ” that she had named her son in honor of one of her 11 brothers who had died some years ago”.

Alfredo is the youngest of the Guzman Salazars, born on the 17th of May of 1986, which indicates that he is 30 years old, his siblings are Ivan Archivaldo, 36 years old, Gisell Alejandrina, 37 years old, who studied medicine, and Cesar, the oldest, 38 years old who followed the road of business administration.

The first time they were included in a preliminary investigation of the “Chapitos” was in May and June of 1993, following the murder of Cardinal Juan Jesus Posadas Ocampo. Alfredo was only seven years old. They had spent their childhoods moving from home to home. They lived in the colonias Residencial Victoria, Chapalita, Ciudad de Sol, Conjunto Patria and Providencia among others.

The judicial police were treating them as “nineros” and drivers of the Guzman Salazars confessed their routines.

The three youngest children spent all their days at a residence on Calle Quebec in the Providencia fraccionamiento, and took them to their respective schools, primary and secondary at the Autonomous University of Guadalajara. Their father was detained in Guatemala on the 7th of June.

After the escape of Guzman Loera from the prison of Puente Grande on the 19th of January of 2001, their investigations led them back to the proceedings.

His relatives were questioned and they confiscated documents relating to the houses insured in 1993, and some bank accounts. Cesar was pointed out as an aid in the escape of his father, but without committing a crime.

After the detention of Ivan Archivaldo “El Chapito” in January of 2005 they investigated all the brothers. Jesus Alfredo was 19 years old and together with his mother, friends and Aunts, promoted an amparo before the a judge of the Third District in Penal matters in the State of Jalisco, because the Federal authorities allegedly wanted to detain him.

A Judge of the 8th district in Federal Penal Processes in the City of Mexico, and on appeal with Third Unitary Tribunal of the First Circuit, negated the orders of apprehension solicited by the PGR against the 14 family members of “El Chapo” for their alleged responsibility in commission of diverse crimes, including money laundering.

However, in the USA, in August of 2009, Jesus Alfredo Guzman Salazar, together with his father Joaquin Guzman Loera, were accused of multiple charges of drug trafficking in a Federal District Court of Illinois. His mother, Marian Alejandrina Salazar Hernandez, was signalled as providing material support in drug trafficking activities  of the Sinaloa cartel. The Department of Treasury then included them in the black list of leaders of drug trafficking on 6th of July of 2012. Ivan Archivaldo and the other sons of “El Chapo” were added to the list on a different day.
