Prisoners in Acapulco Prison Massacre Slaughtered During Santa Muerte Ritual

In the massacre yesterday in an Acapulco Prison, 28 were murdered, executed during a Santa Muerte ritual during a rival gang battle withing the prison..

According to initial investigations, it was commanded by Manuel Garcia, “The Meño”, and Óscar Silva, of the Independent Cartel of Acapulco (Cártel Independiente de Acapulco or CIDA), according to state and federal investigating sources .

Authorities initially reported only a few deaths, but later raised the toll as more bodies were found scattered throughout the prison. The bodies of several of the executed have bullet impacts, according to sources consulted.

Information known by authorities and to which REFORMA had access, indicates that there were weapons (as reported in the BB original post of the massacre) and even explosive devices inside the prison, and that after the confrontation, guards had hid them in the areas of carpentry and tailoring.

Governor Héctor Astudillo said, “We found exactly who is responsible. And three guards facilitated the operation with weapons,” he said. However, he minimized the use of firearms, saying that most of the deaths were with sharp weapons.

Yesterday, two narcomensajes (narco messages) alluding to the mutiny were placed in downtown points of Acapulco. In one, signed by the cartel La Barredora, it blamed “El Meño” of the massacre.

Guerrero has been one of Mexico’s most violent states, and the once-glamorous resort image of Acapulco has struggled with the a high number of killings happening in the area.

that used to be a nice safe vacation destination, seems like since fast and furious its getting more dangerous to travel to mexican tourist areas, its not just the drinking water that is dangerous
