CDMX.- The Federal Bureau of Investigation included Rafael Caro Quintero in the list of the 10 most wanted men, adding another indictment against him for the murder of DEA agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena.
Through a statement, the FBI described Caro Quintero as an “extremely dangerous” man and warned that he is armed. With this, he became the first man wanted by the DEA to be included in the list of top 10 FBI fugitives.
According to the deputy director of the FBI, David L. Bowdich, Caro Quintero is wanted for the role he played in the kidnapping and murder of Enrique “Kiki” Camarena, which occurred in 1985.
Both the DEA and the District Attorney for the Eastern District of New York announced that an additional accusation was added as leader of a criminal enterprise between 1980 and 2017 dedicated to the trafficking of methamphetamines, heroin, cocaine and marijuana to the United States and other countries.
“Today, along with our federal partners from the DEA, the Marshals Service and the State Department, we are committed to bringing to justice this dangerous criminal and cartel leader, who is responsible for the brutal murder of an agent of the DEA,” said Bowdich.
The US government offers a reward of 20 million dollars for the capture of Caro Quintero.
The Associate Director of Operations of US Federal Marshals, Derrick Driscoll announced that the authorities of that country will continue working together with Mexico to obtain information on the whereabouts of Rafael Carlo Quintero.
“Anyone with information about Caro-Quintero should not take any action on their own, but should immediately contact the nearest US Embassy or Consulate,” warned the FBI.
