Commuters Deploring Bad Condition Of Kalamalla Railway Station Road

Yerraguntla (BIN – IC): Commuters have been deploring very poor condition of road near Kalamalla Railway Station. The road is full of pot holes and causing more inconveniece to the commuters. There has been no maintenance of road for years. Even a light rain turns it into a swamp. It has become prone to accidents and inconvenience for passengers. Safe travel through this route has become impossible.

The road is always busy with hundreds of heavy ash tankers, heavy trucks carrying limestone needed for the cement factory and tractors. RTPP employees residing in surrounding areas, contract workers and people of nearby villages commute through this route. Locals say that people travel through this route for emergency medical treatment in Proddutur and that is one of the main reasons for using this road.

• CPI Demanding Immediate Measures For Laying Of Road

Yerraguntla CPI leader Vennapusa Sambasiva Reddy told the BIN…that road needs repair here and there and build a new road where it is completely damaged. Many two-wheeler riders traveling through this route have met with accidents and sustained injuries. The leaders of CPI and AITUC have jointly met the railway authorities many times seeking to build a new road for the safety of passengers. We told the officials that if they are lax in this matter, we will stage rasta rokho and rail rokho. After that, the railway officials constructed only one kilometer long side drainage and abandoned the road works. Nothing has happened for the last six months. 

Railway officials, R&B officials, cement factory officials and concerned district officials have not paid attention to this road till now. CPI is demanding that Officials need to take appropriate measures for the safety of the road and prevention of accidents, and start durable road works immediately and complete at the earliest, Sambasiva Reddy said.
