New CIA Counterproliferation Center

The CIA is opening a counterproliferation center to fight the spreading of WMD technology.  Its plan is to place operators and analysts side by side to better develop ways to obstruct other nations’ drive toward nuclear energy.  This program is being implemented amidst Iran bringing its nuclear power plant on-line which is being provided nuclear fuel by Russia.

CIA spokesman George Little claimed the center has already yielded intelligence success by the “discovery of Iran’s undeclared uranium enrichment facility near Qom.”   However, the Qom site was declared by Iran as part of mandated protocol for which the IAEA has always maintained Iran has been in complete compliance, a fact that has undermined the U.S.’s drive for unilateral anctions that have proved to be counterproductive.

Paul Brannan, a senior analyst at the Institute for Science and International Security, said another CIA success was the slowing down of Iran’s nuclear centrifuge operations at Natanz. The agency, he said, sneaked “faulty parts into Iran’s nuclear supply chain.”  What Brannan is saying is that the CIA has been engaged in sabotage that would place at risk millions of civilians in order to disrupt the operation of a nuclear power plant designed to produce electricity.

The CIA’s new center begins operations as Iran’s Bushehr power plant will be fueled with rods provided by Russia, a loading process that will last about a month and culminate with the reactor generating electricity to Iranian cities.

Even Brannan said the Bushehr site is not a proliferation threat since Iran does not have the ability to enrich the spent fuel into nuclear weapons-grade material, lacking the reprocessing technology and facilities while also being under complete supervision by the IAEA.

Nevertheless, the CIA and NSA will spend tens of millions of dollars monitoring and propagandizing its “successes” which prove to be of no intelligence value while charging American taxpayers billions of dollars for information that has been provided by the Iranians to the IAEA.

One senior intelligence official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the Bushehr plant will be monitored via radar and satellite images.  The operation has systematic overlapping intelligence responsibilities so that all parties can claim success for information that is spread inter-agency while soaking up hundreds of millions of dollars for yet more interagency “success”.

The intelligence community will be watching for things like a heat signatures on radar images, satellite imagery, and vapor leaving the cooling towers, all information that can be readily obtained by the international community due to it being provided to the IAEA by Iran. 

While intelligence officials claim this will assist in determining whether the Iranians “are trying to siphon anything off” the reactor to any of their other facilities, the hundreds of millions of dollars spent to obtain unnecessary redundancy for an intelligence “jobs program” will prove to be a boondoggle for a situation that is already under constant IAEA monitoring.

The Iranians have been known to go to elaborate lengths to obscure their actions from view. The commercial satellite company GeoEye tracked Iran’s Natanz nuclear facility over several years, which showed how the Iranians first built two large 550-by-550-foot chambers at ground level, and then buried the vast site. 

While the U.S. has criticized Iran secrecy within the framework of the IAEA, the secrecy is attributed to the constant threats of attacks even while Iran agreed to third-party storage and enrichment for its nuclear fuel, a proposal floated by the Obama administration and accepted by Iran.

Iran agreed to transfer its uranium to Brazil and Turkey, and while the U.S. authored this agreement, the U.S. then backtracked and berated Brazil and Turkey for agreeing on what the U.S. had proffered.  The U.S. had hoped and believed Iran would never agree to such a deal, but the plan backfired and Iran agreed to all conditions.  This left the U.S. discredited and exposed to the U.N. members that the U.S. is a vassal state to Israeli interests. 

This situation has degraded the U.S’s drive to garner support for more sanctions to which Russia and China will surely never agree.  As the U.S. acts unilaterally, this has harmed the West’s economic interests as sanctions have proven to provide exclusive access to those who will not kowtow to U.S. interests.

Meanwhile, the CIA has entrapped Europeans in crimes and sought extradition for individuals having attempted to sell technology to Iran even while Israelis provide U.S. military technology to China in violation of arms agreements between Tel Aviv and the U.S.  Israel has also been found to violate arms use agreements by using U.S. equipment and arms against Palestinians.  It seems Israel feels less obligated than Britain to honor its agreements with the U.S. despite receiving many billions of dollars in military aid each year.

While the U.S. now has 40 intelligence agencies all providing 850,000 personnel with Top Secret security clearances and producing over 50,000 pages of intelligence reports that U.S. generals have stated had not provided a single shed of useful intelligence in years for the prosecution of the Iraq or Afghan wars, and after placing over a million Americans on the terrorist watch list, the intelligence/industrial complex is now on pace with the military/industrial complex to exponentially expand the warfare/welfare police state while being equipped with the latest advancements in detecting red herrings to justify budgets costing American taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars in additional taxes and debt.
