Antioch: The Global Mass Murder of a Lineage

The genocidal annihilation of a way of life is underway worldwide.  Should we be more aggrieved by the butchering victimizers, the slaughtered victims, or the silent passivity of the onlookers? Perhaps the global mass murder of those who hold to the heritage of Antioch is the most glaring contemporary evidence, that at times it seems human to be inhuman. Life seems to be being lived within an alternate prism in which the common empathy for the sanctity of human life is diluted or strengthened based upon the continuum of time, matter, and space.
 

Of whom much is given, much is expected.  However, in the western world there is less grieving inspired outpours for justice than ever before.  Perhaps it is a lukewarm Laodicean disposition that has assuaged the ability of humanity to confront evil.

George W. Bush, Tony Blair, Nicolas Sarkozy, Barack Obama, Hu Jintao, Gordon Brown, François Hollande, and all the like have dropped bombs throughout the world in the name of love leaving a trail of deposed dictators and overthrown governments.  Sadly they also left behind countries mere micro steps from failed state status and actual scenes of Christian bloodbaths.

For the Christians in Northern Africa and the Middle East, the Arab Spring is nothing more than an execution nightmare. Raymond Ibrahim accurately described the situation when he stated, “for Christians, spring begins with persecution.”  Former Christian Pakistani citizen Mard-e-Khuda can sadly attest, as he savagely had his head split with an axe and heart stabbed with a dagger by Muslim men who broke into his residence during early a.m. hours. Mard-e-Khuda was just nineteen years of age. 

900 Christians in Nigeria were killed last year at the hands of Islamist terrorist group, Boko Haram.  Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan recently declared a state of emergency, stating the levels of violence called for“extraordinary measures”.

18-year-old Syrian Christian Noura Haddad, described her family’s literal run for their life by saying,

Sudan has literally been split in half into two separate countries because of the genocidal massacre of all the Christians in the Darfur region. Janjaweed militia sponsored by the Sudanese government spearheaded the brutal mass murder of 400,000 men, women, and children.

 Every man, woman, and child in the free world must summon the inner courage to give due diligence to humanity’s responsibility to the passionate militancy of love to fight for and protect those we love.  The naïveté of the normalcy bias would lead one to believe that the twentieth century was an aberration.  More people died a violent death in it, than all of the previous centuries combined.  Looking backwards, the proliferation and democratization of weapons of mass murder in the twenty-first century instead defines the twentieth century as a watershed and harbinger of the carnage that awaits humanity in contemporary times.

It was the twentieth century that taught every ensuing generation a billion ways of dying. The professor for mankind was two world wars followed by countless regional wars.  We must view these pages of history with analytical hearts that recognize that the genesis of the one hundred year massacre included a holocaust, because just as the near obliteration of the Jewish people lead the charge to one world war; the extermination of Christians around the world in these latter days herald the horizon of a new world war.
 

It was within ancient Syria’s city of Antioch, which the term Christianity was first uttered.  Not fighting for the people carrying it’s heritage worldwide today may make it the place were the first shot is fired in a global war from which humanity cannot recover.
 

With each passing day the world nods in approval to the serial killers around the globe with the apathetic cheers of silence. Unopposed hatred will not retreat out of self-satisfaction; instead it will widen it aims to you, you, and you.  On behalf of the Christian children of Iran, Iraq, Gabon, China, Egypt, Libya, South Sudan, India, North Korea, Pakistan, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Syria, and more: Where is the love?
