Connecticut State Attorney Releases Summary Report on Sandy Hook Shooting

Today, Connecticut State Attorney Stephen J. Sedensky III released the report bearing his name which now stands as the summary of the investigation into the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings last December. The report is as bland as the inquisitive mind might imagine and goes a long way to weave together a cohesive narrative fitting the accepted version discussed on major media outlets. Today, a 44 page summary report on last December’s Sandy Hook shooting was released.

The report, which summarizes the investigation, is expected to be the last documentation on the incident to be released.

The full report, likely thousands of pages long, will not be released, nor will 911 recordings from the incident.

Below are some of the highlights from the report.

Motive

One of the big questions that is continuing to be asked – Why? According to the report, the investigation did not reveal any identifying motive for the incident.

Weapons Used/Carried by Lanza

1.) A Saiga 12, semi-automatic shotgun was found in the passenger area of Lanza’s car. It was moved to the trunk for safe keeping during the investigation. This is the firearm that can be seen in some videos being removed from the car following the incident.

2.) A Bushmaster XM15-E2S chambered in 5.56mm. According to the report, all ballistic evidence points towards this being the gun used inside the school. The magazines used with the gun are reported to be 30 round Magpul PMags.

3.) A Glock 20 10mm handgun. This is the gun identified as the weapon that Lanza used to commit suicide as police closed in.

4.) A Sig Sauer P226 9mm handgun. This weapon appeared to be unfired according to the report.

5.) Savage Mark II, .22 cal. Long Rifle, bolt action. This is the firearm Lanza used to kill his mother in order to steal the above weapons from her.

Toxicology Report

There was widespread discussion that Lanza was on prescription drugs, possibly for mental health reasons. According to the toxicology report, Lanza did not have any drugs, including prescription drugs, in his system at the time of the incident.

According to the autopsy,

The autopsy of the shooter was conducted on December 16, 2012, at the OCME. The shooter, age 20, was 72 inches tall and weighed 112 pounds. No drugs were found in the shooter’s system. The cause of death was determined to be a gunshot wound to the head. The manner of death was suicide.

Mental Issues

The report reveals that Lanza had Asperger’s Disorder which affected his ability to lead a normal life, particularly in regards to social issues. The report states Lanza was not cooperative in treatment of the disorder.

The report goes on to list Lanza’s interests, hobbies and some recent activity in the time leading up to the shooting.
