Oklahoma Beheading: Suspect Alton Nolen's Mother Speaks To America (Video)

Was Friday’s beheading a part of a premeditated attempt by foreign or home-grown jihadis to strike back at America? So far, signs point to “no.” But for many Americans worried about the Islamic State, such an act could feel like an intentional strike at American society itself.

In the last few months the ISIS, has gathered global attention for releasing videos of the beheading of Western captives.

Americans have been affected by the beheading videos recent polls suggest. The images have been a primary factor in driving fear of terrorist attack to post-9/11 highs, notes NBC News.

So far there is no evidence to suggest that Alton Nolen, the man who is accused of beheading a coworker in Moore, Okla., Friday, has any formal connection with any terror groups.

Yet there is also little doubt that Mr. Nolen was deeply sympathetic toward extremist Muslim groups, posting rambling Islamist invectives, photos of Osama bin Laden, and an image of a decapitation to his Facebook page.

The situation mirrors the uncertainty that surrounded the 2009 Fort Hood shootings, in which Nidal Hasan, an Army psychiatrist who had become disillusioned by America’s wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, opened fire on soldiers preparing to deploy, killing 13. The Obama administration classified the shootings as workplace violence, though others called it an act of terrorism.

Nolen, 30, remains hospitalized in stable condition following Thursday’s attack at the Vaughan Foods plant in the Oklahoma City suburb of Moore, Police Sgt. Jeremy Lewis said. He said Nolen will be charged with first-degree murder and assault and battery with a deadly weapon, and that he may also face federal charges.

In a statement, FBI Special Agent in Charge James E. Finch said the motive for the attack had not been determined, but that there is no reason to believe there was a threat to anyone else.

“We don’t have any reason to believe there is any danger to the area,” Lewis said.

According to Oklahoma Department of Corrections records, Nolen served time in prison and is on probation for assault and battery of a police officer. He also was convicted of cocaine possession with the intent to distribute in 2011.

A look at some of the disturbing posts from what, by all appearances, is Nolen’s Facebook page may provide some clues:

#5. Posted a Ramadan feast photo on July 27th, and added “IF IM STILL LIVING!”

#6.  Nolen makes a recent post about Judgment Day.

#7. Nolen studying with a companion named Abdullah.

#8. Here, Nolen cites a Christian passage before calling for “Jihad Jihad Jihad!”

#9. In this photo, Nolen can be seen making the hand sign of an ISIS fighter. (Link to Sura 17 al Isra).

#10. Nolen posted a picture of deceased Al-Qaeda chief Osama Bin Laden.

#11. Clearly he supports the Islamic State, as this red-bearded man in the image appears to be ISIS Commander Omar al-Shishani. He writes, “Some of my Muslim brothers!!!!!”

#12. Nolen was preoccupied with death weeks before the Moore, Oklahoma, stabbing.

#13. More cryptic and potentially revealing messages.

#14. Nolen was expecting a “BIG ‘A Plus’” from Allah during Ramadan.

#15. More obsession with death and dark subject matter.

#16. He was adamant that there was no other way to G-d but through Islam.

#17. He was not a fan of women’s freedom to dress as they pleased in Western Culture.

#32. Nolen was simultaneously a fan of the O’Jays, dug its version of “Stairway to Heaven,” and posts “Allahu Akbar!” (Just like Major Hasan yelled at the Ft. Hood massacre – another famous case of “workplace violence.”)

#33. One of his more recent posts showed natural disasters and talked of “Judgement Day.”

Just another case of “workplace violence“?

More than a few facts surrounding this case are likely to be swept under the rug by the media, because they don’t “fit the narrative” or for the convenient benefit of the administration.

A preferred narrative surrounding the gruesome killing has been that he was just a disgruntled worker doing what disgruntled workers do. Nothing to see here – move along.
