On Thursday, November 21, critically acclaimed author, journalist, and friend of NIAC, Stephen Kinzer (author of Overthrow and All the Shah’s Men) will gather with local NIAC members for a discussion about his revealing examination of the men behind 1950’s American foreign policy in his new book, The Brothers: John Foster Dulles, Allen Dulles, and their Secret World War. This period was a historic turning point in the history of United States foreign policy and the decisions made under the guidance of the Dulles brothers continue to shape U.S-Iran relations today.

Stephen Kinzer is a critically acclaimed journalist and reporter with over 30 years of experience from over 50 countries worldwide including work as the Latin Americcorrespondent for The Boston Globe and three postings as bureau chief for The New York Times– ’83-’89 Nicaragua, ’90-’96 Berlin, and ’96-’00 Istanbul. As an author, Kinzer has written 8 highly-received publications including: Overthrow: America’s Century of Regime Change from Hawaii to IraqAll the Shah’s Men: An American Coup & the Roots of Middle East TerrorReset: Iran, Turkey, and America’s Future, and A Thousand Hills: Rwanda’s Rebirth and the Man Who Dreamed It, which former Archbishop Desmond Tutu called, ”A fascinating account of the near-miracle unfolding before our very eyes…”. Kinzer is currently a visiting scholar in international studies at Brown University’s Watson Institute for International Studies.
