'Mind-Blowing' Bible Experience Answers: God Gave Israel To Jews?
Author Naomi Wolf was challenged to read the Bible. What she found blew her mind (her words). What she wrote about this is likely to blow your mind, too.
She posted the results on Facebook on Monday morning:
Okay, so I was challenged below: “Read the Bible! God gave the land of Israel to the Jewish people.”
So….I may get crucified for this but I have started to say it — most recently (terrified, trembling) to warm welcome in a synagogue in LA:
Actually if you read Genesis Exodus and Deuteronomy in Hebrew — as I do — you see that God did not “give” Israel to the Jews/Israelites. We as Jews are raised with the creed that “God gave us the land of Israel” in Genesis — and that ethnically ‘we are the chosen people.”
But actually — and I could not believe my eyes when I saw this, I checked my reading with major scholars and they confirmed it — actually God’s “covenant” in Genesis, exodus and Deuteronomy with the Jewish people is NOT ABOUT AN ETHNICITY AND NOT ABOUT A CONTRACT. IT IS ABOUT A WAY OF BEHAVING.
Again and again in the “covenant” language He never says: “I will give you, ethnic Israelites, the land of Israel.” Rather He says something far more radical – far more subversive — far more Godlike in my view. He says: IF you visit those imprisoned…act mercifully to the widow and the orphan…welcome the stranger in your midst…tend the sick…do justice and love mercy ….and perform various other tasks…THEN YOU WILL BE MY PEOPLE AND THIS LAND WILL BE YOUR LAND.
So “my people” is not ethnic — it is transactional. We are God’s people not by birth but by a way of behaving, that is ethical, kind and just. And we STOP being “God’s people” when we are not ethical, kind and just. And ANYONE who is ethical, kind and just is, according to God in Genesis, “God’s people.”
And the “contract” to “give” us Israel is conditional — we can live in God’s land IF we are “God’s people” in this way — just, merciful, compassionate. AND — it never ever says, it is ONLY your land. Even when passages spell out geographical “boundaries” as if God does such a thing, it never says this is exclusively your land.
It never says I will give this land JUST to you. Remember these were homeless nomads who had left slavery in Egypt and were wandering around in the desert; at most these passages say, settle here, but they do not say, settle here exclusively. Indeed again and again it talks about welcoming “zarim” — translated as “strangers” but can also be translated as “people/tribes who are not you” — in your midst.
Blew my mind, hope it blows yours.

using it completely opposite of what it is saying.
The Lord is saying that the nation of Israel will NEVER be removed from Him forever.
There is an eternal “if” to everyone of Gods promises. Never forget it friend.

The Jews misinterpreted God’s promise of eternal favor to Israel. Their favored nation status was always based upon condition, and if those conditions were not met, it was assured that they would be removed as “a nation before me forever.” (Jeremiah 31:35-37) These words were uttered by Christ himself when he cursed the fig tree from producing fruit ever again (Matthew 21:19), which is a well known symbol of the Jewish Nation. (Hosea 9:10) Before giving the promise, He had said, “I will put My law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be My people. . . . For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.” (Jeremiah 31:33-34)
Jesus himself said that if they were truly the children of Abraham, they would “do the works of Abraham.” (John 8:39) For it is written; “By their fruits ye shall know them.” (Matthew 7) Many fail to realize that it was prophesied long ago that the scepter would depart from Judah, and the people would be gathered unto Christ himself. (Genesis 49:10) This prophetic statement is a reflection of the 490 year probationary time prophecy in which the nation would be left desolate. (Daniel 9:27; Matthew 23:38) In the midst of the 70th week Christ was cut off, and then three and a half years later Steven was stoned, ending the time prophecy. (Acts 7; 13:46) They beat and killed the prophets sent to them, and even the Fathers own Son to gain the inheritance they weren’t entitled to receive. (Matthew 21:33-46) The kingdom of God was taken from them , and given to others who would bear fruit. (Matthew 3:9-10)

Well, say that’s really true, which I sincerely doubt that god would choose one group of people over another, especially given the murderous evil actions of those – so called “chosen” people! If it is, it doesn’t include the Khazars or Ashkenazi jews who adopted Judaism, and are not the original jews. So, it doesn’t apply to most of the jews who have occupied what was originally Palestinian land.
Most of the “Jews” in Modern Israel have no connection to the ancient tribe. They are Khazar from Caucasus.
Actually new genetic research shows they were from Europe, but point well taken.
I think that Khazars were mongoloids. Abraham was supposed to have come from Turkey as generally were the ancient Mittani. Ashkenazi Jews overall show a greater connection to the part of Europe just over the otherside of the black sea from there in Europe so I would guess that that is the connection to the ancient ‘Palestinians’.

Didn’t Christ predict the destruction of the Jewish Temple?
I seem to remember that the Romans knocked it down in 70 AD and then again around 100 AD and then kicked the Jews out of Israel as well.
Maybe Christ was just killed by those he was among because he kicked the money changers out of the Temple and they were making lots of money from those money changing tables.
I seem to remember that Christ said that the ‘love of money was the root of all evil”.
Perhaps God was unhappy about the Jews calling for the Crucifixion of Christ and just had the Romans kick the Jews out of Israel for that reason because He was pissed about the crucifixion. Sometimes God has a really bad temper and killing his kid may provoke Him.

The land (Palestine) was NEVER GIVEN to the people of Israel; it was ‘loaned’ to them under strict conditions (see Lev 26, Deut 28 for the details of what the author hints of in the article).
I’m not sure which bible you read. Genesis does give the land, all of it UNCONDITIONALLY, to Abraham and his Seed, forever. In the new testament the “seed” is explained to be Jesus Christ. So, Genesis gives the land to Abraham and Jesus. The new testament then goes on to explain that to be an heir to the land and God’s promises to Abraham, you must be a believer in Jesus Christ. This is not done by your actions or works(ethics or being kind), rather it is done through the faithfulness of Jesus. So the analysis that God didn’t give the land to the Jews is right, he gave it to the believers in Jesus. You only got it half right. If you are going by the Bible, then you need to look a little deeper and you will see it doesn’t belong to the either the Jewish nationals or Palestinians.
Exodus is all about ethics. Commandments are ethic law. You follow these rules and you will have your promised land. The law was written in stone, that means it can never be wiped off. Jesus life is all about ethics and keeping the law. If you follow these simple rules you will experience our fathers heaven on earth, the promised land. Christianity is very pre-occupied with the mythical figure they call “Satan”, and most of the descriptions of a fire and hell originated from a play performed by actors and is not originated from any bible.

Why is Christianity so preoccupied with Satan?
It helps people not feel guilty for their own sins, they blame their sins on someone else.

This is also why Christians think confession relieves them of their sin.
Common sense and common knowledge knows that the only way to atone for a sin, is to do good things to make up for the sin.
Christian philosophy enables bad people keep sinning, and doing bad things, and they can blame satan, and then after confession, they say they are forgiven.
Good people know this does not work.
The only way to atone for a sin, is to do good things to make up for the bad. Confession doesn’t do that, only good deeds does that.
