Israel On High Alert -Rockets Fired from Syria as Nation Braces for Attack

TEL AVIV – The Israel Defense Forces is on high alert and “ready to respond to any incident” in the country’s north, an IDF spokesman told WND.
Earlier today, at least four rockets were fired from Syria, two of which hit the Israeli side of the Golan Heights. No injuries were reported on the Israeli side of the border.
Tourists and residents in and around the area of Mount Hermon have been evacuated. Hermon is home to a popular Israeli ski resort.
The IDF said its forces responded with artillery fire in the direction of the rocket launchings.
The army is investigating whether the rockets were fired at Israel intentionally or were aimed instead at rebel-held regions on the Syrian side of the border as part of the internal insurgency targeting the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
Israel’s Code Red siren blasted in the northern tip of the country, including in the towns of Odem, Al-Roum, Bukata, Majdal Shams, Masa’da, Neve Atib, Nimrod and Ein Kanya. All of those towns are adjacent or in close proximity to Mount Hermon, which straddles the Syrian border.
Residents in the north of Israel report a flurry of IDF activity.
WND observed numerous attack helicopters departing a Tel Aviv military airport en route to the north.
