DEBKAfile was founded by a team of journalists in June 2000 as an independent Internet Web site, providing an intelligence and security news service. February 22, 2017, 5:39 PM (IDT)

The director of Saudi Arabia’s intelligence service, Khalid Bin Ali Al Humaidan, visited Ramallah and Jerusalem on Tuesday and Wednesday, Arab sources said. There was no confirmation of the report by any Palestinian or Israeli source.
DEBKAfile: If the visit indeed took place, the information was leaked in an attempt to torpedo the Saudi initiative. It appears that the intelligence chief was sent to clarify several security-related matters regarding the convening of a regional peace conference. US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu had discussed the possibility of such a conference during their meeting in Washington on February 15.
Khalid Bin Ali Al Humaidan, a career soldier, is the first-ever Saudi intelligence chief who is not a prince. Among those who previously held the top post are Prince Bandar Bin Sultan, Prince Turki Bin Faisal and Prince Muqrin.

Our unique angle on these subjects – and strong intelligence dimension – has earned DEBKAfile a global reputation and a steady readership – which skyrockets in times of crisis.
