Israel approves economic breaks for Palestinians ahead of Trump visit

In consideration of US President Donald Trump’s’ declared wish to promote Israeli-Palestinian peacemaking,
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu proposed and gained majority approval by the security cabinet for a package of goodwill gestures for the Palestinians before his arrival Monday. The two Jewish Home ministers objected. During his 28-hour official visit, the US president will hold talks with the prime minister in Jerusalem and the Palestinian leader in Bethlehem, as well as visiting the Western Wall and Yad Vashem, and delivering a speech at the Israeli Museum. The measures approved by the cabinet included expanded Palestinian construction in Area C, which is under Israeli security and civil administration; new industrial zones and longer opening hours for the Allenby crossing to Jordan.
