Ministry of Defense detected Xe-133 from the atmosphere of Aichi offshore “halflife is 5 days”

On 2/13/2013, Ministry of Defense conducted aircraft monitoring of radioactive material for N. Korea’s nuclear test based on the forecast of WSPEEDI-Ⅱ.

On 2/21/2013, MEXT announced they measured Xe-133 from the atmosphere of 300m altitude offshore Aichi. The amount was 1.9 mBq/m3.

They state the connection with N. Korean nuclear test is not known.
Xe-133 is a fission product, daughter of Uranium 235, half life time is 5.2 days.
MEXT did not mention the possibility that the Xe-133 came from Fukushima.
