The barefaced hypocrisy of Ed Miliband regarding Phil Woolas

So Labour have suspended Phil Woolas, they have also said they will not support his attempt to have a judicial review. Well, I suppose they had no choice given the court ruling today. However it was just last month Ed Miliband appointed him to the sensitive job of Shadow Immigration minister in the full knowledge that he had tried to stir up racial tensions with his untrue election leaflets. The suspension if further rank hypocrisy, what Woolas has done was fully understood, they just expected they would get away with their lies as they have done for the last thirteen years.

BUT once the court ruled they cut him loose in a flash, despite believing just a few weeks ago he was suitable shadow minister material for the very sensitive area that he had abused. Pathetic! Truly pathetic.

Red Ed’s record over last few weeks has been pretty poor:

• Criticised by his own party for failing to discipline Ken Livingstone after he contravened party rules.

• Dithered worse than Brown over whether to join a TUC rally that he had promised to attend.
• U-turned on his promise of a spending review.
• Failed to keep his own Shadow Chancellor in line on the issue of a graduate tax.
• U-turned over supporting changes to housing benefit that would stop claimants living in houses that ordinary workers could never afford.

The Tories have quite rightly put the boot in. Conservative Party Chairman, Sayeeda Warsi said: “This ruling exposes Ed Miliband’s terrible misjudgement. He was fully aware of Phil Woolas’s despicable and inflammatory campaign but still appointed him to a highly sensitive role on his front bench. After failing to act when Ken Livingstone directly contravened party rules, and dithering over whether to attend the TUC rally, Labour has another leader who’d rather duck a difficult decision than show real leadership.”
