I listened to the original interview to get the full context and I understand the laughter better and why it came about. However, it gives a disturbing insight to the cavalier and, quite frankly, the “holier than thou” attitude of our DC leadership about what we should and should not be doing to a sovereign nation; both Syria and Iran. I mean REALLY, “take them out”? He sounds just like a tin pot dictator! How diplomatic! But when you put it in context with where our current state of influence is, it makes sense. The jig is up, the paradigm of the petrodollar is ending and we are descending from our worldly throne. And it sounds, after listing to these to S of S, that we will end up doing something stupid in our misplaced bravado and start a major conflagration. The situation with Israel and the rest of the middle east will not be resolved by us, it has to resolve itself. It cannot go on forever and it WILL come to a head. Let Israel go, let the inevitable war happen but only let it involve the regional countries. It’s an ugly truth that needs to be dealt with sooner rather than later. If we don’t let Israel do this on their own, we might as well make them the 51st state.
