Vegetarians are More Intelligent and Empathetic Than Omnivores, Studies Show

In recent years, numerous studies of thousands of women and men who are vegetarians revealed some controversial results about their IQ. Apparently, people who do not eat meat are more emotionally mature, more compassionate, and have higher IQ than people who do eat meat, by a margin of 5 points (around 105). Studies also show that people who tried vegetarian weight loss plan experience similar cognitive response. In effect, the performance of their brain improved, and they became smarter and more empathetic. However, people who are vegans did not show that same progress. In fact, vegans (who in addition to not eating meat also do not eat dairy products) only show higher levels of empathy and emotional response.

Correlation between empathy and vegetarians seems to be very strong and undeniable. Empathy is the ability to recognize or feel what another being (human or animal) is experiencing. Basically, empathy is an ability to place oneself in another’s position, or even in a position of our planet as a whole. This would also explain why vegetarians feel empathy for animals who suffer, and end up on someone’s table as food.

Some vegetarians were tested when they were kids, and then years later, in their late 20′s and 30′. It was determined that children with higher IQ later in their life became vegetarians.

It is estimated that out of the entire population, about 4.5 or 5% of people are vegetarians. Vegetarianism is, in its essence, a dietary practice of refraining from eating meat. This includes not eating poultry, seafood, red meat, and in many cases refraining from consumption of any kind of animal by-product, like dairy, eggs, or even honey. Certain people are semi-vegetarians because their diet may include occasional fish and chicken.

Scientists concluded that people who are vegetarians are essentially on some kind of vegetarian weight loss plan because they live a much healthier life than others. Vegetarians have low blood pressure, low cholesterol, they are far less likely to be obese or have a heart attack. This is why many of those who want to lose weight turn to the other side, to the vegetarian diet. A vegetarian weight loss plan is a guaranteed way to lose pounds. It consists of consuming a lot of fruit, vegetables, beans, healthy fats, seeds and nuts, and fresh juices. Recent studies about vegetarians who are more intelligent and empathetic can’t be too harmful, either.

One of the best arguments in favor of vegetarian weight loss is the use of so-called superfoods that can make your brain work faster. Our brain is a center of everything. It controls our movements, it controls what we feel, and it controls what we say. Our brain is who we are. It only makes sense that we need the best kind of food for our brain. These are some of the superfoods for your brain:

  • Avocado
  • Blueberries
  • Broccoli
  • Quinoa
  • Chia
  • Coconut oil
  • Olive oil
  • Sunflower seeds
  • Beans and Legumes
  • Pretty much any kind of fruit or vegetable

Some people are not so convinced. They think studies were incomplete or even rigged.
They also think that scientists are trying to say that people who eat meat are in some way dumber than people who don’t eat meat. This is absurd. Researchers who conducted the experiments with dietary habits of vegetarians were merely stating the facts about the brain waves of someone who is a vegetarian. They concluded that everyone could benefit from refraining from meat and other foods with saturated fats. However, even if we ignore scientific findings of benefits of eating vegetarian food, there is an irrevocable scientific proof that red meat and fatty foods are the most common causes of high blood pressure and high blood cholesterol.

Conclusion
Numerous studies in Great Britain and the United States show that there is a strong link between vegetarianism and healthy living. Vegetarian weight loss is not a figment of someone’s imagination, and vegetarianism is not some kind of elite club for chosen people. Everyone can do it, or at least try.

Studies show that vegetarians are happier, slimmer, smarter, more likely to live a longer and happier life and that they also have a positive impact on our environment. If you haven’t already, maybe it’s time for you to join them.
