Only Salman Abedi was not a second generation Muslim but was brought into the UK after his father an Islamic Brotherhood MI6 agent left Libya in 2011 and was handed asylum. The terminology is very important, as is getting the facts right. Salman himself is non UK national, both parents have UK ‘nationality’ granted by the Home office with visas, which is entirely different from UK citizenship which is granted only when both parents are UK citizens at the time of birth, to gain citizenship he would have had to attend a swearing in ceremony and go through immigration processing since he was not born in the UK to UK citizens.
Salman was a first generation Muslim, and would have entered the country on his 16th birthday, at which time he would have had his Libyan passport which is the one he would have used to pass through Turkey as Islamic Brotherhood to join ISIS.
