The Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI) is pleased to announce the hiring of Gregory Conko as a senior fellow. This is the second stint for Conko at CEI, who previously severed as a senior fellow and then executive director. Conko re-joins CEI from the George Mason University School of Law, where he served as deputy director of the Law and Economics Center. At CEI, Conko will work on issues related to health care, food and drug regulation, agriculture and agricultural trade, and nutrition and public health.

Prior to working at CEI and George Mason University, Conko was a research associate at the Capital Research Center. Conko’s work has been published in scholarly journals including Nature Biotechnology, Transgenic Research, Health Matrix: Journal of Law & Medicine, and the Cumberland Law Review and newspapers like the Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, and USA Today.

Conko serves as a member of the working groups on regulatory process and FDA and health for the Federalist Society’s Regulatory Transparency Project. He is also a Senior Affiliated Scholar with the Mercatus Center at George Mason University. He graduated magna cum laude from the George Mason University School of Law and earned a BA in political science and history from American University.

“CEI is adding top talent with new senior fellow Gregory Conko. He brings strong law and economics experience to the issues of health policy, drug pricing, and reform of the FDA,” said CEI President and CEO Kent Lassman. “On top of that, it is a reunion. Conko spent much of his policy career with CEI, and we are delighted that he’s ready to engage on the critical regulatory issues of the day.”
