MTECHTIPS;-Natural Gas Surges Hitting Fresh 3-month Highs

MTECHTIPS-Natural gas prices moved higher breaking out and closing at the highest levels seen since February. Prices closed at 2.84, and are poised to test target resistance near 3.2. Support is seen near the 10-day moving average at 2.766. Momentum has turned positive as the MACD (moving average convergence divergence) index recently generated a crossover buy signal. This occurs as the MACD line (the 12-day moving average minus the 26-day moving average) crosses above the MACD signal line (the 9-day moving average of the MACD line). The MACD histogram is printing in the black with an upward sloping trajectory which points to higher prices. Reported net injection into storage is close to the median of analyst expectations. According to the EIA, estimates of the weekly net change from working natural gas storage ranged from net injections of 83 Bcf to 114 Bcf, with a median estimate of 92 Bcf. Temperatures are in the normal range for the storage week. Temperatures in the Lower 48 states averaged 58 degrees Fahrenheit (°F), the same as the normal and 2°F lower than last year at this time. Temperatures were 3°F warmer on average than the previous report week. Warmer than normal weather is expected to cover most of the United States for the next 8-14 days
