Russia Cleans Up After Meteor Explosion

Workers begin the big task of repairing around 1700 buildings damaged when a bus-sized meteor exploded over central Russia last week. Full Story: With a flash of light, a meteorite screams across the skies of central Russia. The size of a bus, it would land near the city of Chelyabinsk, leaving a path of destruction in its wake. Now – two days after the meteor hit – the cleanup has begun. Workers on Sunday began repairing some of the 1700 buildings damaged by the comet, which sent fireballs cascading across central Russia. Students at this university are replacing windows knocked out by the massive shockwave that followed the meteor. Workers are rushing to do the same at this hospital, where the intensive care unit was left exposed to the Russian winter. The comet – travelling at 30km per second – caused injuries to 1200 people, most struck by flying glass.
