Stop Robbing Your Energy!

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Most people have no idea what energy really means. They attribute it to physical or mental exhaustion. From this point, some folks will turn to caffeine or pills – the smart ones will go inwards, towards the mind.

When we are physically drained, we rest to reboot our energy. It’s an almost instinctive response. However, when we are mentally exhausted we keep trudging on, like it’s a rite of passage – proving to ourselves and our peers that nothing can get in our way. Unfortunately without proper rejuvenation it will all come crashing down.

Mental energy is subtracted when we are in stressful environments, doing work that is not very pleasing to us. It is also drained when our thoughts protrude outwards towards elements of little value. As people, we are always projecting. Either we are fuming at someone, enveloped with our own image or meddling in other’s business.

Of course this is all done mentally. For example, if you are still thinking about how your co-worker cut you off in your morning meeting, you are dissipating your energy. If you are thinking about the previous night where you had an argument with your husband, you are dissipating your energy. If you are thinking about how you hair looks, you are dissipating your energy.

When all these thoughts add up its an immense drain on your inner power. You need uninterrupted energy to manage that inner focus, flow and intelligence to do what you do best, so stop robbing it with trivialities.

Compare yourself to a sage. A sage does not worry about such meaningless faculties. They are always mindful, objective and smiling. Smiling is especially powerfully because you cannot truly smile and harbor negative thoughts. It will always bring you back to the present moment and consolidate your energy.

If you find your energy projecting outwards, drawn into gossip, nasty emotions or narcissism, take some deep breaths and retreat into your mind. Visualize your heart and smile. You will be instantly at peace. Chant a mantra internally like “OM” or “Shreem,” it will quell those stubborn monkeys running aimlessly in your mind.

When you rob your energy  you do yourself a disservice. It will affect your interactions with people, your job performance, your ability to get things done – almost every facet of your life. By conserving it the days will be seamless and you’ll suffer less mental strife. Amazingly you will be imbued with both physical energy and mental clarity that you can expend on what really matters…like a fulfilling life.
