Meditation on Appreciative Joy (Muditta)
This is one of the divine states. An emotion so rare it’s akin to being a god. Muditta essentially is the expression of pure joy and happiness towards those that you are unacquainted with, pure strangers.
Muddita is a state where you experience no envy or jealousy towards what others gain. Its meaning “appreciative joy” implies that whatever instances make other people happy, whether this is material gain, a promotion, good looks – you inherently share that joy with them, without secretly coveting.
Envious people are always in inner conflict. There is no love, peace or harmony within themselves or towards other beings. They are insecure people, they have no patience, no self-confidence and always chaotic. This translate into looking stressed and unapproachable since they have zero thoughts of love.
Practicing appreciative joy dispels this negativity within you. Its meditation is highly simple and straightforward.
- In a meditative state focus loving thoughts towards those who are not close to you (family, close friends) but general acquaintances or people you have just met.
- Reflect you happiness when they get what they want, cast thoughts of spiritual love, forgiveness and healing, dwell on these emotions.
- Visualize the person in your mind; be completely content and happy for them and what they have. Emulate their happiness to your happiness and think to yourself “I am truly happy for this individual and wish them the best”
And what benefits do you enjoy out of this meditation practice?
- You sleep easily and undisturbed
- You are not affected by peoples hatred or anger
- People gravitate to you and want to experience your loving nature
- You are not susceptible to accidents or harm since invisible deities offer their protection to you
- You gradually start manifesting what you desire without impeding on others

“You are not affected by peoples hatred or anger”
Hmm, is it better to live a life free from empathy, I would hardly call that living. You can only be happy by accepting who you are, not by forcing yourself to be something you are not. I think most people would have to be dead to achieve the above because it involves being dead inside to empathy. I would rather not be a coward to other peoples intolerance. Because the only thing it promotes is more intolerance. I want the world to be a nicer place for my children and grandchildren thank you very much, not a living hell infested with the intolerant.
There is a difference between empathizing and being dragged onto the emotional tidal wave of others.
