Sha Chi – now you see it with the Walkie Talkie

A skyscraper in London known as the ‘Walkie Talkie’ has been blamed for melting part of a Jaguar car as well as causing damage to buildings opposite it. There are simple reasons for this but for me, wearing my Feng Shui glasses, it is a perfect physical representation of what is known as Sha or Cutting Chi.

The building, which is under construction, has been reflecting sunlight from the tilted windows and, as the UK has been having a great summer so far, there is a lot of sunlight to reflect. The car was in the wrong place but shops opposite have noticed tiles cracking, paint bubbling and even a coir doormat catching fire due to the concentrated reflection.

In Feng Shui we always look for sources of Sha Chi that may affect a building or it inhabitants because it has the same effect energetically as this reflected sunlight is having on those that are on the receiving end. Where concentrated sunlight can cause great heat or burning, so concentrated energy can have a similar effect on us energetically. I fact, it’s considered so potent in some cultures that organisations have been accused of deliberately constructing buildings to ensure Sha Chi is directed at their competition.

Sha Chi is created when something sharp is focused on us. So it may be the corner of a building that points directly into our window sending a laser beam of energy at us. Or it may be an overhead beam that focuses its energy on us when we sleep. We may not physically melt or catch fire but Sha Chi can still be damaging.

Noticing sources of Sha Chi is the first step to protecting yourself against it. Then ensuring that you do not spend any significant amounts of time on the receiving end: this may mean moving your furniture around. If this isn’t possible a smooth reflective surface such as a mirror or metal ball can be placed where the Sha Chi enters the building to reflect it out again but, please be sure that you are not directing it at anyone else!
