Seeking the elements in feng shui enhancements

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

All of my feng shui consultations end with a list of recommendations for my clients and a lot of those recommendations will be based on adding an element or draining the power of a different element. However, some cures can be made more powerful by simply taking note of balance.

If you’re not familiar with the elements studied in feng shui have a look at my article here which explains the Five Element Theory.

Now, in some cases such as bathrooms where we have a lot of the Water element, we focus on another element to drain it: excuse the pun! In this instance that would be the element of Wood.

But, in other cases, it makes more sense to bring a balance of the elements to an area rather than focusing on one.

Here’s an example from my own home:

I have an area of auspicious energy and, to really vitalise that area, the element of Water is recommended. However, this same area changes from year to year when the energies shift so I’ve been searching for a small indoor water feature for a while.

But this little fountain doesn’t just represent the element of Water which softly flows from the top of the plaque behind the leaves to the bottom.

It also represents Metal because the leaves are made from copper and, of course, Wood because we have a depiction of leaves.

It is dark brown which adds the element of Earth and what about Fire? It has four little lights in its base. So, all in all I have a great balance but, what I really love about it is the square base which represents our mother earth or yin energy on top of which sits an oval plaque which represent the heavens and yang energy. You often see this representation in chinese ‘lucky’ coins which are circular with a square cut out in the centre.

I’ve had it a little while and have been waiting for the right date to get it going (based on Chinese astrology). I’ll let you know how it goes.

So what about you? Do you have an indoor water feature or even aquarium placed for energy purposes? Share with us in the comment box below.
