Guided Meditations Vs. Sound Only

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

I love to meditate. It’s my go to at the end of the day and early in the morning before I start the chaos of the day. Meditation is the recharging of my spiritual battery and helps me stay grounded in what’s important to me.

I could write on and on about the benefits of meditation and how it changed my life, but in this article, I want to focus on which meditation might work for you.

Frist let’s define the two types we will be looking at.

Guided Meditation

A guided meditation is one where there is a voice taking you on a mental journey. Many times there is music in the background and you’ll listen to a voice that will tell you what to visualize.

The visions you see are symbolic for other things going on in your life. For instance, traveling down a road is designed to bring you into a deeper meditative state. You may drop items along this journey and this allows to you release anxiety and worry.

When I first started meditating I started with guided meditations.  They seemed to provide enough focus so my mind didn’t wander. I was able to feel rested and rejuvenated after the mediation and didn’t feel like my mind was ablaze with thoughts and replaying the day.

Sound Only

This meditation is just that. Background sounds as you enter into your own state of mediation. This can be nature sounds or Tibetan singing bowls or any compilation of relaxing sounds.

Now that I’ve been meditating much longer, I now prefer sound only. For some reason it allows my spirit guides to take me on a deeper journey. It allows my soul to feel more renewed and energized.

I crave this type of meditation.

Really it’s based on your preference. And occasionally I will go through a phase where I seek out guided meditations because I’m just too tired to focus enough with sound only.

The most important point is that as long as you meditate, it doesn’t matter what you use to take you deeper.

Whether it’s a guided meditation, sound only or even in utter silence – it’s the benefits of the time you spend in stillness that matter the most.
