Montie Design Joins the Partnership for Defense Innovation

(Research Triangle Park, N.C.) Innovation and commercialization firm Montie Design has officially joined the Partnership for Defense Innovation (PDI) as part of an overall effort to further its commitment to serving the changing needs of the defense industry.

A tax exempt 501 c(3) organization promoting economic development in the defense space, PDI is based in Fayetteville.

“We have been working alongside PDI through the years, interacting with member companies and organizational leadership at industry events, and decided that formalizing our relationship would help both parties contribute to defense innovation,” Montie Roland company president, said.

Roland recently served on an information technology panel discussing modeling and simulation at the North Carolina Advanced Technologies Forum hosted by U.S. Senator Richard Burr. The event served to establish a dialogue between industry, academia and government and form partnerships to address the future needs of the federal government to meet future challenges such as sequestration.

“As generalists, the Montie Design team operates in multiple industries and looks to vacuums in trends, bringing a unique third-party perspective and experience of other industries into consideration of clients’ product concepts. This helps us pivot and change direction quickly, which is essential when working in an industry with an uncertain future like defense,” Roland explained.

The Montie Design team is looking forward to contributing its knowledge and experience to PDI, while in return tapping the organization’s resources including a full-service engineering and design facility staffed with former Special Forces / Special Mission Unit operators, academically trained engineers and technicians. These professionals offer highly sought-after expertise in Research Development Testing and Evaluation (RDT&E) and Integration of emerging Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) and Government off the Shelf (GOTS) technologies with specific application to Command, Control, Computers, Communications, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) Military operations and systems integration.

By actively participating in regional and national defense industry educational and networking opportunities, Montie Design provides its insights and experience to help a multitude of product design-related communities achieve excellence.
