I have seen and photographed this plane flying over my town in Southern Colorado too. Low and slow… And with the USAF on the underside of the sings. The above article is incorrect in that they aren’t 747 airframes they are the older 707 airframe.

The aircraft flying over Austin is an E6B TACAMO (B707). It is equiped with a battle staff that is able to change the targetting assignments of land based nuclear ballasic missiles and launch as required. The hump on the top of the aircraft is a radom that houses a milstar communications antenna for secure communications. it also has a TWA (trailing wire antenna) for communication with the nuclear ballistic submarine fleet. I am familiar with this aircraft because I installed these systems. The E4B is the 747 equivalent with other electronic systems. The aircraft was probably on a routine training mission doing touch and goes at Bergstrom

the fact that investigators are finding that twa was hit or impacted by some type of force on the outside of the plane first is a clue.
