The Severest Threat to the National Security

The environment with its three spheres; the Biosphere, the Socio-sphere and the Techno-sphere should be properly managed to ensure the sustainable development. The balance of the man-environment relationship is the difference between advancement and states failure. The biosphere with its geography, live creatures; plants, animals and the smallest unicellular microbes, and demographic structures needs to be well managed.  People create the social system that runs the biosphere. The biosphere has its own ecological system that gives all living structures an opportunity to survive. It also contains the resources; renewable and non-renewable. Over the history man did not interfere much with the ecological systems until the industrial revolution when he started to burn excessive fuel. With the technology advancement, he reclaimed lands that changed the forests into farms reducing the ability of the green plant mass to absorb carbon dioxide and that led to pollution and extinction of many spices and favored the cultivations of certain plants that were used as food. Man favored to breed some animals like sheep, cattle, horses and camels while the wild animals were hunted for their fur or other uses. Men hunted animals without giving a chance for the reproduction of certain kinds to survive.

The technology or the techno-sphere that is anything man made helped humans to change the environment the way man planned and created a style of life that in many cases was incompatible with healthy life and destroyed the environmental balance.

The concept of the environmental warfare has been developed to inducing a sever environmental imbalance that leads to environmental collapse and failure in a certain country by reducing its ability to produce enough food and spreading diseases among its population with changing of the social life style in a way that state failure and disintegration of community result in either division or civil wars. In most cases this environmental imbalance is a long term one and if it is a short term disaster, the impact and consequences stay many years until the ecological systems regain the enough strength to reclaim it partially but it will never return to its own shape and structure before the disaster.  

To wage a successful environmental war countries attack the rival’s environment on many fronts. On the biosphere there will be sharp rise in both allergy and cancer due to introducing chemicals that are harmful to human beings. The problem is that chemists discover and invent new compounds sooner than the ability of biologists and doctors to discover their harmful effect that takes years to be proven. When there is an evidence of the harmful effect, companies try to defend their products by media campaigns while doctors cannot find financiers to clear their point of view in media. Polluting a certain place may lead to desertification and diminished ability to produce enough food. Introducing an epidemic disease or pandemic one to a community may affect its ability to continue and it may enrage people against their government and instability drastically affects the already hunted community.  

The few years before the fall of the Soviet Union witnessed strange phenomenon that was the Soviet youth left their political dream and all they wanted was to wear jeans, to eat hamburger and to drink Cock. The US conducted a psychological war against the Soviet Union that focused on consumerism. They never mentioned that the higher standard of living in Western countries is due to better management and better use of the results of the scientific research. Parallel to the psychological warfare, the ex-Soviet Union had less agricultural production and in the Asian republics the Childhood diseases and deaths raised to unprecedented levels. Still there are many secrets that are not revealed about the fall of the Soviet Empire.

Another type of the environmental war is transferring polluting technologies to the third world countries so that workers die before transferring their experience to the second generation. During the nineties of the last century, a top manager in the International Bank advised to transfer all polluting technologies to poor countries because the cost of death will be much less than in advanced countries. In fact this policy would be successful to achieve short term increase in productivity. But on the long term the workers will retire or die at early age and there will be fewer opportunities to transfer their experience to the subsequent generation. At the same time the excessive use of resources will block development just before its benefits change the culture of the community. Usually this policy is associated media campaign to spread consumerism culture of the imported goods from advanced countries depleting the savings of people and transferring the wealth to the advanced countries again.

In fact there are innumerable methods to wage environmental war but all these methods depend on weakness in the Socio-sphere that allows bad decisions and misuse of lands to take place. Usually the industrial community that wants to produce more and to sell more at any cost does not give proper consideration to either excess use of resources or the pollution and its impact on the health of population, herds and even plants. Desertification of the agricultural lands is a big problem on one hand and deforestation. On the other hand spread of more and new diseases among people put more stress on the health systems and consume more expenditure on patients and specially the chronic patients.

The worst type of environmental war is spreading diseases that are unknown and of powerful contagious trends. Ebola is an example of these diseases. Other diseases viral or bacterial can destroy the youth of a community hindering its survival chances in the future.

Some chemicals are introduced as food preservers or in paints of childhood toys and they are carcinogenic or allergic. One of the signs that a community is exposed to an environmental war is a statistical increase in cancer cases and different types of allergy.

Sometimes the state approves to some projects that destroy a city. In Egypt, Helwan was famous for its healthy air and water and it was a health resort until the sixties of the twentieth century but now cancer lung is seen frequently in children due to the cement particulates that pollute its air.

The first step to have defense against an environmental war is to study the vital statistics and the demography with correlation and association tests that reveals significantly the presence of the problem. Pollution levels should be monitored and solution to heavy polluted areas should be applied as a priority. Any new project should have an environmental license. There are many policies that could be done to decrease the pollution level.

At the same time monitoring of the infectious diseases should be done continuously and plan to manage epidemics should be ready. The health authorities should establish a crisis management department that can do researches and surveys with the proper analytic methods and suggest plans for different scenarios. Training of the health workers to manage crisis and catastrophes properly to reduce their impact on the health system. People should be educated through media to behave properly during the different scenarios. 

The environmental war depends on the bad decisions taken by officials in a certain place. It is considered one of the cheapest wars. The idea is let the enemy destroy himself while he is happy. It depends also on the fourth generation war by manipulating the information to favor the bad decision.

Terrorism can be used to create acute environmental disaster. For instance the use of toxic chemical or radioactive isotopes in explosive devises will take terrorism to unprecedented levels that could compare to the Bhobal disaster in India in mid-seventies of the last century when a chemical factory that produced pesticides exploded with about seven hundred thousand victims, or Chernobyl nuclear power station accident that its pollution reached wide geographical area.

Great global powers use methods of environmental war in their political plans to overwhelm and control the world. Some said that the fall of the Soviet Union was the first Environmental World War. Other evidences that global powers use these methods are known. In the last thirty years some types of viruses appeared that were genetically modified from original known viruses or created in military medical labs. Some said that during the fifties of the last century AIDS virus leaked from the French military medical labs in Africa. In fact Britain uses Anthrax to kill South Asian tribes when the British Army provided contaminated blankets to these tribes. In North America the newly European immigrants used the same method to kill the American Indian tribes. In fact the extinction of these tribes with the extinction of native tribes in Australia was a disaster for civilization because the culture and the heritage of these people were lost. Unfortunately the idea of killing or inducing diseases among poor people is still present in the thinking of modern institutions. In the nineties of the last century an expert in the World Bank advised that polluting industries to be moved to third world countries to reduce the occupational and environmental diseases in the advanced world and it is cheaper to produce goods with higher mortality in the third world than in the advanced world. Or in other words killing them is cheaper than educating and developing them.

Global powers spend much on using modification of the atmospheric forces to induce catastrophes in rival geographic areas.  Going under a variety of names – atmospheric geoengineering, weather modification, solar radiation management, chemical buffering, cloud seeding, and weather force multiplication – toxic aerial spraying is popularly known as chemtrails. However, this is merely one technique employed to modify weather. The practice of environmental modification is vast and well-funded.     

Dr. Vermeeren, of the Delft University of Technology, presented a 300-page scientific report entitled, “CASE ORANGE: Contrail Science, Its Impact on Climate and Weather Manipulation Programs Conducted by the United States and Its Allies.”

Case Orange notes it was prepared for the Belfort Group by a team of scientists but presented anonymously. It was sent to embassies, news organizations and interested groups around the world “to force public debate.”

The report spends some time on HAARP, the High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program, financed by the USA army, which is a military endeavor focused on ionospheric, electromagnetic, and global electrostatic field manipulation, and on other exotic weapon systems that manipulate the environment.

In the Space Preservation Act of 2001 introduced by U.S. Representative Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) sought to ban the use of exotic weapon systems that would damage climate, weather, tectonic and biological systems. “Chemtrails” are specifically listed. Though later removed, no version of the bill ever became law.

One of the ideas to use chemtrails is to induce heavy rain falls and floods to destroy a certain geographical area or to make it not suitable as military operational area. If this is done in association with spreading a certain contagious virus or bacteria it would a disaster and the cost to win a war by environmental manipulation is much cheaper that using the traditional military force.

Another idea to induce catastrophe is firing a nuclear or hydrogen bomb at oceans to induce destructive earthquakes and tsunamis. Using a non-radiating thermite bomb that gives about 0.9 of the heat and shock waves of a nuclear bomb of Hiroshima size. Using multiple thermite bomb explosions may induce a real disaster.

In fact the methods of environmental warfare are many and the international community has to ban and criminalize them. History tells about war criminals who did not respect any ethics or humanity and the only guarantee that is available now to safeguard against this type of warfare is to be ready to use them if your rival think about that. Tit for tat is the safe method like nuclear weapons balance that prevented a nuclear war since the WWII.

Any state should have good control over the chemicals, industries and apply the environmental safety methods to save its people the induced diseases. Continuous survey of infectious diseases is of due importance to spare people the epidemics and their mortalities and morbidities. Heath and Environmental Educational programs should be continuous and the media should be oriented with the hazards of Environmental warfare. Catastrophes and crises plans should be ready and thinking about the too many scenarios of the environmental warfare and how to prevent, control and manage them should be ready.
