Toyota to Launch a More Powerful Sportier Variant of Etios Liva

In India, Japanese automakers have been ruiling from a long time, Suzuki with its Indian subsidiary Maruti Suzuki is the biggest player of the industry. On the other hand, when it comes to the most desired vehicles, most of us will agree on Honda’s name and the third one is Toyota, which is also taking as symbol of trust in India, but Toyota being the larget carmaker in the world, doesn’t standout well in the country.  To improve its position Toyota is now playing high for the mass segments and for this, the company is going to give a new variant to its maiden hatch Etios Liva. The company is planning to launch a sportier and more powerful version of Liva with some major modification, it will be launched next month with an aim to boost its sales in India. As per reports, the new Liva Variant will sport a 1.5-litre petrol engine with  a better-tuned suspension, improved brakes and wider wheels to complement the additional power.

However Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s deputy managing director and COO (marketing and commercial), Sandeep singh refused to comment on the same, however he says, “There are several product plans going on in the company and I would not like to share them at this moment.” The reports further says that the new Liva model will also use better quality plastic, so to give a more premium feel to the dashboard, switchgear and door panels. There will also be a new colour scheme given to the vehicle, so all these changes would certainly help the vehicle get better in quality, which has been facing criticism for the interior quality ever since its launch in India.

“The Etios sedan and Liva hatchback lack the quality benchmarks Toyota is known for globally,” an industry analyst said. “As expected the new vehicle would have the some recipes of success that Toyota’s Indian subsidiary desperately needs to make a dent in hatchback, India’s largest car segment,” the person added.
